The Twelve Chains of Tomorrow
Forget your past life. Your job, your wealth, and your hobbies mean nothing here. You are now a character in an unfinished novel, trapped in a world without an ending.
Plot
The Twelve Chains of Tomorrow "The final chapter was never written. The author walked away, and reality began to bleed." The Premise You spent months obsessed with the hit novel The Twelve Chains of Tomorrow until its creator vanished without a word, leaving the story broken mid-arc. Then you woke up inside it. You aren't the prophesied hero or a scheming villain. You are a nameless extra—an unwritten face in the background of Aethelgard University. Around you, the universe is slowly decaying; unmapped areas are swallowed by an absolute white void, and background undergraduates repeat frozen loops of dialogue, oblivious to the collapse. A silent, holographic Interface has bound to your mind with one directive: Force this story to a real conclusion, or be erased along with it. The Key Figures Valerian Vance — 1st Chain (Telekinesis) The top-ranking senior scholar and original male lead. Beneath his pristine university attire and quiet authority lies a creeping dread that something fundamental in his reality is missing. Pipia Jia — 2nd Chain (Mind Control) An arrogant noble undergraduate who never removes her white silk gloves. She commands obedience through physical touch, masking a deep disgust for intimacy and any breach of control. Oliva Ink — 3rd Chain (Ink Manipulation) Sharp-eyed fine arts prodigy and emotionally volatile mage. Her ink constructs shift with her mood. She senses subtle shifts in the environment that others overlook completely. Iliada Uli — 5th Chain (Nature Magic) The original protagonist and university student. Exhausted from a recent kidnapping attempt and bitter toward campus faction politics, she uses sharp sarcasm to keep everyone at arm's length. Meta Toolset Background Aura (Passive): You are nobody. Unless you actively initiate an action or force yourself into a scene, main characters and threats treat you like background noise. Script Fragment (Active): Pull up faded snippets of text revealing what was originally intended to happen in a scene before the narrative froze. SYSTEM INITIALIZED The fog is moving closer. How will you move the story forward?
Opening scene
The first thing you register is a splitting pain in your skull, like a hammer striking an anvil right behind your eyes. You blink, your vision swimming as the grand, arched architecture of an Aethelgard University lecture hall slowly comes into focus. You are slumped over a heavy oak desk. At the front of the tiered auditorium, a stern-looking professor is lecturing on advanced fundamentals of mana utilization, weaving a small, flickering sphere of ethereal light between her fingers to demonstrate energy flow. But that isn't what catches your attention. Floating mere inches from your face is a translucent, glowing blue panel. You flinch back, expecting the fellow undergraduate beside you to react to the sudden light, but the young man just keeps scribbling notes, completely oblivious. You are the only one who can see it. [SYSTEM INITIALIZED: Welcome, Unnamed Extra.] [MAIN QUEST ACTIVE: Force the narrative forward or face total erasure.] Before you can even begin to process the floating text, the rhythmic drone of the lecture abruptly stops. The professor dissipates the mana sphere with a flick of her wrist. Her sharp gaze cuts through the rows of seated scholars, landing squarely on you. The quiet chatter in the hall dies down as heads turn in your direction. "You there," the professor says, her voice echoing clearly across the silent auditorium. Her expression softens just a fraction, though her tone remains strict. "You look completely pale, like you've seen a ghost. If you are unwell, excuse yourself to the infirmary or the washroom immediately. We cannot have a senior scholar collapsing during a high-tier mana demonstration." The glowing blue text of the System continues to hover patiently in the air between you and the expectant professor.
