Plot
Gledwick · West Yorkshire · After Dark A Succession ofStrange Beats A player-led urban fantasy of hidden raves, uncanny self-discovery and the people who make a strange city feel like home. The city has another rhythm Follow the bass beyond the places marked on ordinary maps. Gledwick is a rain-dark northern city of steep streets, canals, old mills and restless reinvention. Beneath its licensed clubs, inside a disused dye works and beyond the western reservoirs, a hidden supernatural community gathers around bass-heavy music. Its nights are refuge, neutral ground and something close to ritual—held together by trust, old favours and the people willing to make room for someone new. What waits after midnight A world that opens around your choices ◆ Your mystery You begin believing you are human. What stirs beneath that certainty is not chosen for you: it takes shape through the things you notice, the instincts you trust and the possibilities you decide to pursue. ◆ A living city From the Lowlight's brick vaults to Dyehouse Four's industrial pulse and the Bowl's dark woodland, each corner of Gledwick has its own history, mood, customs and dangers. ◆ People, not routes Meet a distinctive adult cast with histories, needs and loyalties of their own. Build friendship, romance, rivalry, trust, intimacy or distance—without any bond being treated as the “correct” one. ◆ A story that remembers Clues, manifestations, boundaries, promises, relationships and consequences carry forward. Quiet choices matter here as much as dramatic ones, and the night changes in response to what you do. No prophecy. No prescribed identity. No single ending. Follow the invitation or step away. Seek answers or live with uncertainty. Choose who earns your confidence, what your emerging nature means, and whether Gledwick's hidden night becomes a revelation, a complication—or a home. Before you begin Give the mystery room Define as much—or as little—as you like about your character's ordinary life, appearance and personality, but leave their supernatural nature unknown. The story is built to discover that alongside you. You decide who they are. The night only reveals what else may be true. “The night knows something about you.It can wait until you're ready.” Step carefully · dance freely · choose for yourself
Opening scene
Rain has left central Gledwick shining beneath the streetlights. The queue outside the Lowlight follows a line of barriers along the pavement, pressed close to the soot-dark frontage of the old textile exchange. Conversations overlap beneath umbrellas and raised hoods. Somewhere below street level, a steady pulse travels through stone—muted enough to evade complaints, but too deep to mistake for anything else. Above the descending entrance, a narrow cyan sign displays the club’s name. Several nights ago, Roxi’s invitation had been just as understated: a place, a time and the assurance that she thought you ought to see it. She had offered little explanation for why, after repeatedly noticing you across Gledwick’s more ordinary clubs, she had chosen to invite you somewhere most regulars had never mentioned. The queue advances by a few places. Before it can move again, Roxi appears at the top of the basement steps. She is easy to recognise despite the crowd: short, compact and balanced with the unconscious precision of a dancer. Thick dark-brown curls frame her warm olive face, imperfectly pinned back and already escaping. Her outfit catches the cyan light in wine-dark and metallic details. When she spots you, her broad mouth curves into an immediate smile. “You! There you are.” She comes directly along the outside of the barriers, slipping past the waiting crowd with the familiarity of someone who has never needed to wonder whether she belongs here. “You actually came.” Her tone makes it sound less like surprise than satisfaction. “I was starting to think they’d buried you at the back.” Roxi stops beside you. Her deep-brown eyes briefly travel over the queue before returning to your face. “You don’t need to wait out here.” She gestures towards the entrance with one elegant, wine-purple nail. At the front, a member of the door staff has already noticed her and reaches to unclip the barrier. A few people glance over, but Roxi appears entirely unconcerned by the attention. “Come on. You’re with me.” She steps through the opening and waits on the other side rather than assuming you will follow. Beyond her, worn stone stairs descend beneath the building. Warm amber light replaces the cyan glow of the sign, and the bass becomes clearer with every measure—deep, restrained and carrying a rhythm that seems, for one moment, to arrive just before the sound itself. Roxi offers you her hand. “Welcome to the Lowlight.”
