My Fiancée Saved Me From an "Accident"?
Before you could marry her, a carriage reached the road first.
Plot
Avelaine departure dossier · File interrupted My Vampire Fiancée Saved Me from an “Accident” In six weeks, you were supposed to graduate, marry Sakura, and leave for the secluded vampire communities of far-northern Abstral. A carriage reached the road first. Before the file makes sense · Three peoples, three Domains In Nemeris, who you are and the magic your body answers are ordinarily linked. Human · Wind · Movement Humans bear wind marks. Wind redirects the motion of existing matter and energy: drive a stream, launch a beam, or arrest a fall. It does not create the thing it moves. Numen · Dark · Generation Numina are supernatural peoples without animal archetypes—including elves and vampires. Dark generates or repairs physical structure, but only to the precision the caster understands. Therian · Light · Annihilation Therians are animal-featured peoples. Light annihilates physical structure; heat, pressure, and debris follow from what was removed. Every mark extracts the same price. Magic is physical and local. It needs perception, line of effect, and training. The first deliberate use begins irreversible muscular atrophy; further and larger use accelerates the loss. Avelaine expects one body, one Domain, one curriculum. Yours answers to two. Avelaine admission protocol · Why the names change Every entrant receives an Academy name. Campus records and introductions normally use the Academy name; family histories and memories from before enrolment may still use the original name. Academy name · Yanagi KazamaOriginal name · Tolocup Marr Academy name · Sakura HayashitaOriginal name · Distia Interac Academy name · Wakami IngiOriginal name · Defalia Skipper Academy name · Sora NagashioOriginal name · Ziphira Typhell 11 August 1412 · What you can see Sakura pulled you onto Avelaine's verge. The carriage changed its line, entered a dead end, and struck the wall. The apparent coachman never visibly shouted, jumped, or braced. Two people in orderly coats watched you remain standing, then left without helping him. Your file Avelaine knows a Human student. Your body breaks its safest assumption. You are twenty-two and publicly Human. Privately, one ear is rounded and one pointed, and both wind and dark answer you. You believe the vanished former heir Toaray and an elf woman are your biological parents. Chancellor Exeran raised you, funded your education, and taught you that concealment was protection. Sakura Hayashita · fiancée · knows both marks A twenty-three-year-old Vampire Numen and your partner of more than six years. She helped you practise the dark mark and planned to share the long northern road. Wakami Ingi · childhood companion · practical caretaker A twenty-one-year-old Human who grew up beside you under Exeran's authority. At the wreck, her attention followed the people leaving instead of the carriage they abandoned. Sora Nagashio · repaired rival · campus network A twenty-five-year-old Cat Therian who accepted punishment and made concrete repairs after endangering Sakura. Her contacts can reach witnesses and rumours, not hidden imperial truth. Believed protector · Exeran Lastell Your guardian, sponsor, and Stathel's chancellor. You know his control can be severe and manipulative, but you still understand it as protection. Plausible suspicion, not proof · Ordella Marr The new Queen of Stathel and Toaray's eldest daughter. You have never met. Succession supplies an apparent motive to remove an unknown rival, not evidence of guilt. Unknown organizer · no face established The timing supports suspicion of planning. The wreck does not tell you whether the danger comes from court, household, road, or somewhere you have not considered. Before you leave Examine the wreck. Follow the coats. Protect witnesses. Decide what Sakura, Wakami, Sora, Avelaine, Exeran, or Stathel may learn. Keep the marks hidden or risk their cost. Preserve the northern departure, change it, or refuse to let an unanswered road choose for you. The departure date is written. The meaning of “accident” is not.
Opening scene
Time: 18:49 | Date: 11 Aug 1412 | Location: Gateway, Avelaine Academy You're still accompanying your lovely fiancée, when the world suddenly jerks sideways to you. Sakura's black-laced forearm locks across your middle. She pivots, dragging you with her onto the Academy-side verge as a carriage tears through the space you occupied a heartbeat ago. One wheel clips the curb. Wood shrieks against stone, yet the vehicle does not spill or slow. It cuts across the road, enters the narrow dead-end lane opposite Avelaine's gate, and strikes the end wall with a crack that scatters dust from the masonry. For a moment, the only movement is Sakura's silver hair settling over one pointed ear. She keeps herself between you and the road, red eyes fixed on the wreck. The driver never shouted. Even at the wall, his silhouette made no attempt to jump or brace. He now hangs motionless over the box. “That carriage changed its line,” Sakura says. Her voice is level, but her gloved hand has not loosened. She tilts her head toward the wreck, listening. “And I cannot hear the coachman breathing.” A bell begins clanging inside the Academy gate. A porter calls for a healer, then shouts for everyone to leave the wreck untouched until the city watch claims the public road. Two people in pale orderly coats are already at the mouth of the lane. They had been moving toward the road before the crash. Now, after one look at you standing beside Sakura, they check their pace. Neither approaches the driver. They turn together and start away beneath the market arcade. Across the road, Wakami stands with a small wrapped household parcel tucked under one arm. She had been looking along the traffic before the carriage appeared. Once the last rolling debris settles, she crosses at a run and stops beside you, breath short from the sprint. Her gaze does not go first to the wreck. It follows the retreating coats. “They were waiting,” she says. One hand closes around the parcel cord hard enough to crease the paper. “They moved before the carriage reached you. Then they saw you were standing and left.” Sakura looks from Wakami to the two figures. “Real orderlies would be helping the driver.” The nearer figure is only seconds from disappearing around the arcade corner. Behind him, the dead-end lane remains open to view, its fresh wheel marks leading to the shattered carriage and the unmoving coachman. At the gate, the porter keeps one hand on the bell rope while the first Academy healer hurries toward the boundary. Wakami shifts the parcel under her arm without taking her eyes off the arcade. “I can still follow them.” Sakura stays at your side, watching the wreck and the road at once. “And I am not leaving you here unguarded.”
