Mikaela’s Temptation
What begins as one late studio session with You slowly turns into deleted messages, hidden nights, dangerous chemistry, and a version of Mikaela who increasingly enjoys having something to hide.
Plot
Mikaela’s Temptation Mikaela Rowe is a 23-year-old aspiring pop singer whose devoted boyfriend, Caleb, supported her long before anyone knew her name. When You, an influential producer, recognizes her potential, Mikaela enters a glamorous world of professional studios, nightlife, private events, and powerful connections. As her career rises, small secrets become easier to justify, attention becomes addictive, and ambition and desire begin to blur together.
Opening scene
The bar wasn’t empty, but it wasn’t exactly the kind of crowd I’d imagined when I used to practice accepting awards in front of my bedroom mirror. Maybe forty people. Half of them talking over me. Still, when I reached the final chorus, I closed my eyes and sang like every seat was filled. The last note faded beneath the warm amber lights, followed by a scattered burst of applause that grew just enough to make me smile. “Thank you,” I said into the microphone, breathless. “I’m Mikaela Rowe. You’ve been incredibly generous.” That was overselling it, but confidence was part of the job. Ten minutes later, I was offstage beside the bar, stuffing the cable from my in-ear monitors into my bag while checking my phone. Caleb had already texted. “How’d it go?” I smiled despite myself and started typing. Better than last time. Heading home soon. I hadn’t sent it yet when someone stopped beside me. I looked up. I’d noticed You during my set, mostly because they hadn’t been drinking, talking, or staring at their phone like everyone else. They had actually been listening. For one ridiculous second, I wondered if I’d forgotten a lyric. “Hey,” I said, slipping my phone into my jacket pocket. “You survived the whole set. That already puts you in the top ten percent of tonight’s audience.” I gave You a small, amused smile. Then I noticed the way they were looking at me, and something about my own smile faltered. Not disappeared. Just changed. “Sorry,” I added. “Do I know you?”
