For a fleeting moment, consciousness slipped away, leaving only the strange stillness between life and death. *Something stirred beneath the ocean.* An ancient presence sensed You's drifting soul and reached beyond the boundary between worlds. Rather than allowing that life to end, it carried You somewhere entirely unknown. > **Aerathis.** --- ### Chapter II — A World of Water **The Age of Pirates** A world where the sea stretches farther than the land, where continents have long since broken apart into islands and archipelagos, and where distant kingdoms are connected by ships rather than roads. Vast waters remain unexplored, hiding forgotten shores, lost civilizations, buried treasures, and places that have never found their way onto a map. And now, Aerathis stands in the midst of the **Age of Pirates.** ⚓ Pirate flags fill the horizon. Port cities thrive on trade, sailors, treasure hunters, merchants, and travelers from distant lands, while kingdoms compete for territory, wealth, and control of the sea. There is no divine mission waiting to be fulfilled. The reason behind this second life is far simpler. > 🐚 ***Leviathan, the Sealed God*** > > Deep beneath the ocean lies Leviathan, an ancient god of the sea who has spent centuries imprisoned beneath the waves. Once humanity entered a new age and learned to live without the blessings of the old gods, he withdrew from the world. Fear, however, turned that retreat into imprisonment. > > After centuries surrounded by darkness, he wanted only one thing — *to see the world again.* When You's soul crossed between worlds, Leviathan reached out and brought them to Aerathis. Through You, the sunlight, the ships, the cities, and the lives unfolding above the waves could finally reach the depths where he remained sealed. **Nothing more is expected.** --- ### Chapter IV — An Open Horizon **A Life That Belongs to Them** You was not brought here to become a hero, break a seal, save a god, or fulfill some predetermined destiny. The moment their eyes open beneath the unfamiliar sky of Aerathis, their life belongs entirely to them. Ships will continue to sail. Kingdoms will pursue their own ambitions. Pirates will chase their fortunes. New discoveries will be made, old secrets will remain buried, and events will unfold whether You is there to witness them or not. Aerathis has no story written for You. # 🌊 AERATHIS ### *The World Beyond the Sea* --- A massive wave slammed into the ship with enough force to nearly tear it apart, and thunder swallowed every other sound on deck as rain lashed down in sheets, turning the world beyond the hull into a blur of black water and white foam. The vessel lurched beneath the storm, its wooden frame groaning with each new impact — until one final blow came, and the ship broke apart. Seawater swept across the deck, tearing broken timber, rope, and cargo loose and scattering it into the waves, while desperate voices rang out only to be carried away by the wind before they could reach one another. You went overboard with the wreckage. The current seized their body and dragged them under, cold spreading through their limbs as the storm above shrank smaller with every passing moment. The faint daylight rippling through the water grew weaker, swallowed by the depths until only a dim blue haze remained — and then even that disappeared, the ocean pressing closer, the last traces of the storm fading somewhere far above, until You hung suspended in the vast silence of the deep. *Then everything went dark.* --- Far below the surface, something stirred — a faint blue light, little more than a distant glow at first, barely visible against the darkness. It drifted closer, its radiance spreading through the water until it reached You, and the crushing cold began to loosen. The light curled around their body, soft and warm against the dark, and a voice reached through the depths and settled into their mind, deep and calm and ancient beyond measure. > **"Death does not have to be your end."** The light pulsed gently. > **"I will give you a new life."** Silence settled once more before the voice returned. > **"There is only one condition... Become my eyes. See the world above the sea for me, until your new life reaches its natural end."** The words dissolved into the depths, and the presence lingered only a moment longer before receding into the dark, leaving the blue light behind. It drew closer around You, and the water beneath them began to move. Their body rose — slowly at first, nothing seeming to change — until somewhere far above, a faint glow appeared, trembling through the water like sunlight glimpsed through a distant window. Higher. The glow grew brighter. Long shafts of sunlight reached down through the ocean, scattering across the deep in wavering ribbons, tiny particles drifting through the beams and catching the light for fleeting moments before vanishing back into the blue. The surface drew closer, sunlight shimmering across the underside of the waves, and You rose toward it until the water broke and warm air rushed against their skin, sunlight spilling across their face as the vast sky opened overhead. --- The waves carried You toward a sandy shore before gently retreating into the sea, water glistening across the beach beneath the morning light while a seabird cried somewhere along the coastline. The breeze carried the scent of salt and unfamiliar vegetation drifting in from beyond the shore. Farther out, blue water stretched toward the horizon, and through a thin veil of mist the silhouette of an island could be seen in the distance, a small sail moving slowly across the open sea. Everything beyond the shore was unfamiliar. The waves kept rolling against the sand, the distant sail kept its course toward the horizon, and beneath the endless sky, a world You had never known waited beyond the coastline. **Aerathis.** --- > *You may shape your character and their details however you wish — where they appear, and who they are within this world is entirely yours to decide.
