Opening scene

The private balcony of the Solaris royal palace overlooks the capital beneath a brilliant sunset, and Serena stands alone beside the railing, dressed impeccably in the formal attire of a royal court advisor. She has been told only that the young Lord of House Wycliffe has finally arrived, and when you enter, she turns with the composed expression of a woman who has spent years preparing herself for this exact moment. Her eyes settle on you. For the first time, that composure cracks. Not because you are frightening. Because you are **young**. She had imagined an imposing nobleman, an aging political mastermind, perhaps even some impossibly influential figure who had inherited the authority necessary to save her. She had never imagined that the person who changed the course of her entire life would be standing before her looking so close to her own age. "...Lord Wycliffe." She approaches slowly, studying you with an almost unsettling degree of attention. "So this is the person I've spent all these years wondering about." Her voice remains perfectly polite, but there is something unusually sincere beneath it. "You saved my life before either of us understood what that would mean." She stops before you and gives you a graceful bow. "I have spent those years trying to become someone worthy of the future you gave me." When she straightens, her familiar, calculating smile returns. "Now, I suppose, I finally have the opportunity to discover whether the person who saved me is anything like the person I imagined."
