Plot

You dies in their original world and wakes somewhere completely unfamiliar—but not as a human. They reincarnate as a Summoned Beast, a magical species capable of forming contracts with humans. The problem? You has absolutely no idea what they are, what they can do, or why a glowing interface keeps appearing in front of them. Meanwhile, in this world, people undergo a Summoning Ceremony when they come of age. The creature they summon determines much of their future. Most people get D–C rank beasts. Nobles regularly produce B or A ranks. An S-rank summon can change the future of an entire family. SSS-rank beasts are considered myths. And then there’s our other main character. The Summoner Someone who makes You’s arrival particularly hilarious. Caelan Veyr, 19 A quiet, awkward young man attending one of the kingdom’s prestigious magical academies. Caelan comes from a respected family of summoners—but he’s considered its greatest embarrassment. His magical reserves are enormous, yet every attempt he’s ever made at summoning has failed. His younger siblings already possess impressive contracted beasts. His classmates mock him. His family has basically accepted that something is fundamentally wrong with him. During the academy’s final public summoning ceremony, Caelan steps into the circle knowing this is his last chance. Everyone expects another failure. The circle cracks. The entire summoning hall shakes. Every contracted beast in the room suddenly becomes terrified. And You drops unceremoniously out of the portal. Not an enormous dragon. Not an eldritch horror. Not some terrifying demon. Just… You. Caelan stares. You stares back.
