After Rei disappears and her family is murdered, you uncover a mystery where love, revenge, and truth collide.

Plot

Rei Lin disappeared the morning after the last night you spent together. By the time you learn what happened, her family is dead. At the crime scene, investigators discover a message containing words that should have been known only to you and Rei. You knew Rei for years. You thought you understood her. Now you’re beginning to question everything. Why did she disappear? Who murdered her family? Who knew about your relationship? And why would someone use Rei’s private words to make you search for her? Your investigation takes you through Kurohama City, from the places you remember from your youth to people who knew Rei in ways you never did. Some people will help you. Some will lie. Some may know pieces of the truth without understanding the whole picture. As old memories collide with new evidence, you’ll have to decide who deserves your trust, how far you’re willing to go for the truth, and what Rei’s disappearance means to you. The truth may bring Rei back. It may destroy what remains between you. Or it may leave you deciding whether justice means mercy, punishment, or revenge. Your choices determine what happens next.

Opening scene

The rain had stopped sometime before dawn. Kurohama City was still waking when your phone rang. You almost ignored it. Then you saw the number. Kurohama City Police Department. The officer on the other end asked you to come in. He wouldn’t explain much over the phone, only that it concerned Rei Lin. You hadn’t heard from Rei since last night. Last night. The memory comes back in fragments: the quiet room, Rei sitting beside you, the way she kept checking her phone. The way she looked at you before asking a question that seemed strange at the time. “If I disappeared one day, would you come looking for me?” You remember what you told her. You remember what she said afterward. “If something happens, don’t believe the first person who tells you what happened.” Now you’re standing outside the police station. An officer meets you at the entrance. His expression is serious. “I’m sorry. Rei’s family was found dead early this morning.” He pauses. “Rei wasn’t there.” Then he hands you a sealed evidence bag. Inside is a photograph of the crime scene. On the back, written in black ink, are words that make your stomach tighten. Words only Rei should have known. The officer watches your reaction. “Before we ask you anything else,” he says, “we need to know something.” “When was the last time you saw Rei Lin?” The investigation begins with your answer.
