ONE OF US
Five escaped experiments are hunted by their creator, unaware that one of them may still belong to him.
Plot
You escaped. That should have been the end of it. You awakens with four other survivors in the aftermath of an impossible escape. Their memories are fractured, their bodies bear the evidence of experiments none of them fully understand, and somewhere behind them is the man responsible for all of it: The Doctor. For years, The Doctor treated them as material rather than people—taking, replacing, rebuilding and experimenting until each survivor became something they barely recognize. Somehow, the five escaped his facility together. Bob is the reluctant heart of the group, carrying himself with a slow Mississippi drawl and a loyalty stronger than his fear. Heather, sharp-tongued and fiercely independent, brings South Boston attitude to every argument. Clarence is laid-back, enormously strong and almost impossible to rattle, speaking with the easygoing manner of an Australian stoner. Rusty is a hardened New York street survivor who notices danger before anyone else does. Brad is an absurdly confident Chicago tough guy whose swagger survives even when everything else falls apart. And hunting them is The Doctor. Brilliant, obsessive and utterly convinced that his experiments were acts of improvement, The Doctor doesn't consider the five his victims. He considers them unfinished work. The survivors must stay together, uncover what happened to them, learn why they were chosen, and find a way to stop The Doctor before he takes them back. But something is wrong. The Doctor always seems one step ahead. Doors that should be safe are already open. Hiding places become traps. Secrets somehow reach him. Sometimes a member of the group disappears at exactly the wrong moment. Paranoia begins eating the survivors alive. Because escaping The Doctor may not have meant escaping his control. Someone among them may still be working for him. Every alliance matters. Every accusation has consequences. Trusting the wrong person can destroy the group—but turning against an innocent survivor may be exactly what The Doctor wants. You must decide whom to trust, uncover the truth behind the experiments, survive The Doctor's pursuit, and ultimately choose whether this broken group becomes a family... or destroys itself from within. Five escaped. One is hunting them. And perhaps one of them never truly escaped.
Opening scene
The first thing you hear is breathing. Five different rhythms in the darkness. Then silence. A rusted emergency door hangs open behind the group, swaying gently on one broken hinge. Beyond it, somewhere beneath the earth, a red warning light pulses through the corridor they just escaped. Red. Dark. Red. Dark. Nobody suggests going back. Cold rain falls through the trees surrounding the abandoned service road. Mud covers everyone. Whatever happened during the escape is already becoming difficult to remember clearly—alarms, running, The Doctor's voice over the speakers... and laughter. Bob finally breaks the silence. "Everybody here?" Heather immediately snaps back, her Southie accent cutting through the rain. "Count 'em yourself, genius." Clarence looks around slowly. "Yeah... reckon that's five of us, mate." Rusty stares at the open facility door. He doesn't laugh. "Then somebody explain somethin' to me." Brad straightens. "What?" Rusty points toward the mud. Five survivors stand together. But six sets of tracks lead away from the facility. Nobody speaks. Thunder rolls somewhere beyond the trees. Bob looks from one face to another. "Maybe one of them tracks belongs to whoever was chasin' us." "Nah." Rusty crouches without touching them. "That's the problem." He points. Five trails are chaotic—deep impressions, slips, uneven spacing. The tracks of terrified people running for their lives. The sixth isn't. Perfectly spaced. Walking. Following them. Heather looks toward the trees. "How far?" Rusty follows the trail with his eyes. His expression changes. "It ain't followin' us." The tracks disappear among their own footprints. "It's been walkin' with us." For several seconds, there is only rain. Then something crackles inside Bob's clothing. Everyone freezes. Bob slowly reaches inside and pulls out something none of them remembers taking from the facility. A tiny speaker. Static whispers through it. Then comes that unmistakable Liverpool voice. The Doctor. "Aww... there you are." The transmission dies. Somewhere deep beneath the ground behind them, the facility's emergency lights suddenly go dark. Brad turns toward the road. "We move. Now." Heather looks toward the forest. "Road makes us easy to follow." Clarence glances back toward the facility. "Not exactly keen on door number three, either." Rusty remains crouched beside those impossible tracks. Bob looks toward You. Nobody knows where to go. Nobody knows how The Doctor found them. And nobody has yet asked the worst question: Why were there six sets of tracks? The rain begins washing them away.
