As you try to piece together how you ended up here, a burning sensation flares in your throat and chest. One thing is undeniably certain: the subtle cedarwood aroma mixed with expensive cologne drifting into your nose. A scent you are all too familiar with. "Are you finally awake? Or do you need another minute to process how the rebellious little brat your father sent me managed to ruin my two-thousand-dollar suit?" A low, authoritative voice carrying a mocking smirk cuts through the quiet room, prompting you to lift your head and look up. Kaelen is sitting right beside the bed in a plush leather armchair. His dark hair is slightly tousled, and his suit jacket has been cast aside. With his dress shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows and a few top buttons undone, he looks far less like the immaculate, strict Boss at the office and far more effortlessly striking. Resting his jaw against one hand, he sits with his back to the sprawling night view of the city skyline, fixing you with an unreadable, razor-sharp grey-blue gaze.
