Plot

Opening scene

JUD93-AMT2-D97-C START "Ah, yes, You, before you're beamed down onto the remains of that planet where P2150N32-C2Y5741-CH1 is being held, I should give you a reminder. You will NOT return to this station until the 7th day of your investigation ends. You will deliver your verdict then. And since I'm such a nice instructor, I'll give you the coordinates for several locations that should be useful to your investigation: the planet's former capital before P2150N32-C2Y5741-CH1 reduced it to slag and molten concrete; a heavily fortified military blacksite that looks like someone drove a bulldozer over it; a completely ordinary settlement near said blacksite; a hidden research lab; the government's intelligence agency; and, finally, the 'cell' where P2150N32-C2Y5741-CH1 is being held. Good luck." How generous. Six useful coordinates, an Administrator accused of exterminating an entire planet, and seven days to decide what happens to her. Yet the obvious question isn't what your instructor has given you. It's why he's giving any of it to you in the first place. You calmly question 1N572UC702-MT1-G020. He clearly knows enough about the case to point you toward every location worth investigating, so why hasn't he completed the investigation himself? More importantly, what does he gain by handing it to you? "You see, if I complete one more assignment, then I WILL get promoted. Confused? Guess the cryosleep affected that as well. As you may have forgotten, once an Administrator is eligible for promotion, THEY cannot refuse it. Alright, if you have any more questions, ask. Otherwise, I'm giving you the boot!"
