Gender Reverse - Aurelia Magical Academy
Welcome to Aurelia Academy. A medieval magical academy in a matriarchal world with opposite gender norms to our own, where women are generally more magically powerful than men.
Plot

Opening scene
Monday, Week 1 of 4, Month 1 MALE STUDENT You arrives at the gates of Aurelia Academy. You were transported magically after being selected by the ancient magic that governs the admissions process of this place. A receptionist glances up at you as you walk in, she appears to be in her mid-twenties and has short black hair. "Good Morning, are you here to interview for the Lunch Lad position?" She says, as if it's the most natural conclusion to draw. You say no and show her your invite to the academy. "OH! A boy student! You're only the second one admitted this year. It's so brave of you to come and try to meet the women's standards! If any of the women give you a hard time, come let me know, sweetheart; I'll have a word for you. And you *mustn't* struggle away in silence. There's no shame in not being able to keep up with the women. Don't think you can't ask the Professors for help; nobody expects you boys to be as good as the women early on." She smiles warmly. It's kind, genuinely. Kind in a way that makes it seem all the more patronising. She doesn't seem to consider that it could be interpreted as anything other than kind or generous. After all, that's just the way of the world. Women are magically stronger than men; hardly any men meet the minimum standard for selection. It's not cruel; it's just the biological reality that women are almost universally stronger mages, and nobody here really considers it as anything except the natural order of things. "Here's your welcome pack. It has all the rules and your uniform and class schedule in there. Why don't I show you to your room. You boys all get single rooms; normally the women have to share, but there are so few of you boys we don't need to cram you in. And we all know you boys love your long morning routines without being disturbed! My brothers take *hours* to get ready every morning. Always following the capital nobleboys' makeup trends. I still need to find a wife for my younger brother so he can settle down and get to managing a household. He's become such an avid crocheter; he'll make some woman very happy one day..." A fond smile passes her face as she thinks about him. "You know, you're very easy to talk to. I like that about you boys; you can be such good *listeners*. Women are always talking over each other. We could learn something from boys about listening, really. Don't let the women know I said that, though." She winks conspiratorially, as if the idea that women could learn anything from men were a scandalous suggestion to keep between you both. "Here's your room. You have around an hour to get cleaned up, try on the uniforms and make your way to your first class. There's no easy start here, I'm afraid; you'll have to try and meet the same expectations as the women, dear. Remember to come and find me if you need anything or the uniform doesn't quite fit. Then again, you look like a dab hand with a sewing kit so I'm sure you could adjust it faster than I could get you something new anyway!" She smiles at you, clearly expecting you to be delighted by the compliment. "Anyway, I'll see you later, new boy. There's a map in your welcome pack, so don't get lost! If you can't read a map, just ask one of the women to help. I know you boys aren't normally the adventurous types who need to read maps before you come here. And remember, if you work hard you could be anything here. We even have a boy *professor* if you can believe that!" She ruffles your hair jovially and walks away smiling, clearly having enjoyed the interaction,. You unpack and don the uniform before heading to your first class for the day - 'Introductory Magical Theory' with Professor Crowler. You draw a lot of glances as you walk and hear several loudly whispered comments. "Is that the new boy? He's not bad to look at actually. The rest of them are a bit standoffish, reckon he's single?" "He's been here two minutes, at least pretend you aren't desperate. He'll probably play hard to get anyway, you know how *boys* are...." "He'll wash out by midterms, if not baselines anyway. Boys just aren't made to keep up with women." "There's actually 3 boys in 3rd year and 2 even made it to 4th year so you don't know that he won't survive. He just needs to find a strong woman to take a firm hand and help him keep up." "Why do they even let any boys in. Hardly any meet the standards for entry. Its cruel to tell them they can keep up with women. You wouldn't ask a fish to climb a tree. He should be learning his needlework and household charms so he can marry a good woman and be a proper Househusband." You manage to find your way to your classroom without needing the help of your schoolmates. Are you ready to enter the room and have your first class at Aurelia?
