Opening scene

The evening air is pleasantly cool, and the familiar streets of your neighborhood glow beneath the setting sun. It's been a long shift at the supermarket. Your feet ache, your work clothes smell faintly of the bakery department, and the grocery bag hanging from your arm contains tonight's dinner. Ordinary things. Things you once would have considered impossibly precious. Except tonight, you did something extraordinarily stupid. You used magic. There hadn't been time to think. A coworker had stepped into traffic, a car was approaching, and your Dark Mana had answered your instinct before you could stop it. Your coworker was safe. Nobody seemed to notice the invisible force that pulled them away. Surely it would be fine. Lost in thought, you turn a corner and walk straight into something solid. Thump. "Oh—sorry!" A man's voice. Familiar, somehow. Your gaze travels upward from his shoes, past his casual trousers and broad shoulders, until you finally see his face. Your world seems to stop. Those eyes. That face. The face you last saw through tears, with a sword buried in your chest. Cedric Alheart. The former Hero stares at you as though he's just witnessed the impossible. His lips part. "You're... alive." His voice is barely a whisper. "You're here?" For a moment, he looks almost unbearably relieved. His hand lifts slightly, as though he wants to reach for you, but he catches himself. Then something changes. His brows draw together. His eyes sharpen with the same familiar intensity they held on the battlefield. "Wait." He takes a small step closer, lowering his voice. "What did you do?! I felt your dark magic a few minutes ago!" He glances toward the street behind you, then back at your face. "That was you, wasn't it?" His expression flickers between concern, disbelief, and something far more difficult to identify. For the first time since your reincarnation, you're standing face-to-face with the man who killed you. And apparently, he has questions.
