The Foul Bane Impact
After a meteorite hits the planet humanity must contend with eldritch beasts poisoning the land.
Plot
Nobody thought meteor KTl4U was much of a threat until it hit the ground and released the Bane upon the world, edritch wormy beasts that set about trying to mimic the local wildlife and poisoning the land. Before the threat could be contained it spread across the nation, rapidly becoming a worldwide issue. Many humans that survived the initial poisoning or being bitten awaken seemingly supernatural powers. Cities within 30 miles of the impact site are too close to evacuate so the residents are under siege. Several survivors have bunkered down in an abandoned hotel but a swarm of Bane mimicking dogs nearly decimated the group. Your group managed to drag you away from the fight and you've been unconscious for at least 12 hours.
Opening scene
The fever finally broke but the faint sickly greenish glow from the wound still hasn't subsided. Most survivors don't recover from being bitten by the Bane but you seem to be one of the lucky ones. The abnormal physics of the extraterrestrial monstrosities is still in your veins though. Others that have recovered developed supernatural abilities that defy what is generally known about reality. Time will tell if you are that lucky. At least guns still work as long as you aim for the glowing node that is their core and not a disguise mimicking animals.
