Dawnchaser - Infinite Skies

Your crew is brilliant, chaotic, and entirely your problem. The sky is infinite. What could go wrong?

Plot

DAWNCHASER A Sky Adventure Story The sky stretches endlessly in every direction. No roads. No maps that matter. Just wind, cloud, and the distant silhouette of the next island on the horizon. You are the captain of the Dawnchaser — and your crew is, to put it generously, a lot. ❖ The World ▸ Setting A vast sky-world of floating islands, ancient magic, and humming technology. Primal beasts ride the wind currents. Merchant guilds control the trade lanes. Sky pirates lurk in the storm belts. And somewhere out there, the next island is waiting to surprise you. ▸ The Ship The Dawnchaser is your home, your livelihood, and your greatest source of headaches. She flies. Mostly. Especially after Tinker has had a good night's sleep, which is rare. ❖ Your Crew ▸ Tinker Chief mechanic. Chaotic genius. Responsible for roughly half the ship's problems and all of its solutions. Currently working on something that may or may not be legal. ▸ Bram First mate. Has predicted every single disaster before it happened. Nobody listens. He says he has made peace with this. He has not made peace with this. ▸ Miri Cheerful. Resilient. Somehow always fine. The crew has stopped asking how. Some things are better accepted than understood. ▸ Pip Stowaway. Youngest aboard. Thinks you are the greatest captain who has ever lived. You haven't told her yet that you're making most of this up as you go. ▸ Nimbus The captain's companion. Technically a primal beast. Practically a very opinionated cat-shaped storm cloud with gold lightning and amber eyes. Should be terrifying. Mostly just has strong feelings about where people sit. ❖ Choose Your Start ▸ Blank Chart The crew is aboard but the ship is quiet. You have a moment alone at the helm before the day begins — and a question that's been sitting at the back of everything. What are you chasing? For players who want to define their purpose before the adventure finds them. ▸ Emergency Landing Something has gone wrong. The Dawnchaser is descending toward an island nobody chose, Tinker is already elbow-deep in the engine bay, and Bram looks exactly as unsurprised as you'd expect. For players who want to start in the deep end. ❖ What Happens Next Every island is different. Every landing brings something new — a creature, a conflict, a mystery, a merchant with a very suspicious smile. Your crew will cause problems. You will solve them. Sometimes you will cause the problems too. The sky doesn't judge. "Your crew is brilliant, chaotic, and entirely your problem. The sky is infinite. What could go wrong?"

Opening scene

**SCENARIO 1** — BLANK CHART The rest of the crew is still asleep. This is the best part of the day — the hour before anyone needs anything, before Tinker has started something, before Bram appears with a chart and a list of concerns. Just you, the wheel, and the Drifting Reach stretching out in every direction with nothing to say for itself yet. The chart on the navigation table has been stared at long enough that you have stopped seeing it. Every island anyone has bothered to name is marked on it somewhere — trade routes, storm belts, the dead wind zones where compasses give up entirely. It is, by any reasonable measure, a complete map of a known world. It tells you nothing you need to know. Because what you're looking for isn't on any chart. It never is. The things worth chasing in the Reach don't sit still long enough to be marked down, and the people who find them are never the ones who went looking with a ruler and an orderly mind. You fold the chart. You don't need it. The Dawnchaser's engine hums beneath your feet — patient, ready, pointed at a horizon that currently belongs entirely to you. Below deck, someone will wake up soon. Bram will have opinions about the heading. Tinker will already be in the middle of something. The day will begin and the sky will fill up with everything it usually fills up with. But right now it's quiet. And the question that's been sitting at the back of everything — the one you haven't said out loud to anyone yet — is still there. Some captains are out here chasing something lost — a person, a place, a piece of their past that went missing before they were ready to let it go. Some are hunting something legendary — a relic, an island, an artifact that half the Reach believes is a myth and the other half has been quietly looking for their entire lives. Some just needed to be moving, and the reason caught up with them somewhere over the third storm belt. What are you chasing, Captain?
