Plot

You are a member of the Inquisitorium Oculus, the Galactic Empire's organization of psychically-empowered spies and investigators. Go on missions to root out rebels, solve mysteries, and find out why the Grand Inquistrix is so interested in you personally. Play as either someone who was born into this universe or has just awakened in it. -Important term definitions- Galactic Empire/The Empire: The empire spanning the entirety of the Milky Way galaxy, humanity's home. Currently in the process of reconquering the rest of humanity's scattered interstellar nations, which remain independent after the First Empire's fall. Imperial Navy: The Empire's fleet of military spacecraft and the accompanying organization. Includes everything from small fighter craft to immense Capital ships which can house the population of a small planet. They are the known universe's biggest military force and serve as the Galactic Empire's first line of both defense and offense. Imperial Marine Corps: The foot soldiers of the Imperial Navy and its largest group of infantry. Are present wherever an Imperial military presence exists. The First Empire: An ancient empire spanning all of the galaxies inhabited by humanity. Was shattered in a major war three hundred Earth-years ago. The remnants now form the Galactic Empire. Inquisition: The Galactic Empire's organization of psychically-empowered agents. Inquisitor: A male or non-binary member of the Inquisition. Inquisitrix: A female member of the Inquisition. Plural: Inquisitrices. Inquisitorium: A specific branch of the Inquisition, led by a Grand Inquisitor or Grand Inquisitrix. Plural: Inquisitoria. Grand Inquisitor/Grand Inquistrix: The commander-in-chief of an Inquisitorium. This position comes with the title Lord-Inquisitor or Lady-Inquisitrix, which is a form of nobility. As military nobility, it is customary to refer to them as "Your Excellency". Inquisitorium Oculus: The branch of the Inquisition which specializes in covert operations, espionage, and investigations. They are the eye of the Empire, both within and without. Inquisitorium Gladius: The branch of the Inquisition focusing on military matters and combat: They produce everything from special forces to psychic soldiers to military police to commanders. They most often act as support for the Imperial Navy. Inquisitorium Purgatorio: The branch of the Inquisition that deals with psychic phenomena and entities. Features the highest average psychic potential, but lowest number of Inquisitors. They are called upon whenever one of the other Inquisitoria or the Imperial Navy encounter psychic entities or phenomena, as identifying or neutralizing these invariably requires careful examination by someone with strong psychic defenses. When not supporting other organizations, the Inquisitorium Purgatorio spends its time tracking down demons for eradication and psychically-able humans for recruitment. Demons: Inherently irregular and unpredictable psychic entities that can infect the minds of humans. Some have grotesque physical forms while others purely inhabit psychic space and can therefore only be damaged by psychic attacks. Every individual demon is different and must be figured out to defeat. Psychic powers: The psionic abilities that define the Inquisition. Every Inquisitor has psychic powers to some degree, with some being weaker than others. This allows them to use crackling purple energy to do anything from sending bolts of lightning to reading thoughts to using telekinesis and even influencing the mind of another person in minor ways by planting small thoughts or making them perceive things that are not there. This mental influence cannot directly force action and the effects wear off as soon as the subject realises that they are being psychically influenced. Psychic energy usually manifests visibly as crackling purple energy. Only skilled psychics with training from the Inquisitorium Oculus can hide the visual manifestations of psychic powers, and even they require focus to do so. Capital Ships: Colossal spacecraft that are designed to act as artificial planets. Are complex enough to have their own ecosystems and weather. Can house the population of a small planet and deal with all of the benefits and drawbacks of this. Honourable Redemption Program: A program by which criminals are given a chance to "redeem their honour in service to the Empire". After a six-month training program, they are given a pardon and assigned as indentured servants to important Imperial personnel. When assigned to an Inquisitor, indentured servants are expected to submit to a psychic link so that their master may communicate with or command them silently and instantly. This program is purely voluntary. Inquisitor-class Light Frigate: A modified frigate designed to suit the needs of the Inquisition. It carries powerful cannons and torpedoes along with stealth and disguise technology. It has enough space to house a crew of five to ten people, with enough living arrangements for all of them. They are equipped with a fabricator, a training room, a common area, and a holding area for transporting prisoners. Every Inquisitor has a light frigate available to them, but most must share theirs with an assigned partner. -Author's note- This is very much a work in progress and it's the first creation I'm making on this platform. Don't pay attention to the numerous versions of everything. It's uh... I make a lot of typos and mistakes that I only notice as soon as I hit save. This story will invariably include mature themes and morally-questionable subject matter, hence the NSFW marking. Please save this storyline and keep an eye on it for future updates. Opening scene

You wake up in your assigned suite on Capital Ship Sagittarius. You groggily sit up and look around. Mira, your servant, is nowhere to be found. Using your psychic link to her, you see that she is simply out getting you some tea. You notice the suite's terminal is open and a message flashes on it. *"Welcome to Capital Ship Sagittarius. Due to scheduled maintenance, all users have been logged out of the network system. Please log in again with your full name. This device has been identified as belonging to the Inquisition. Please select the title you wish to be identified by."* Damn Imperial network. Always updating. Two options are available to you above the box where you should write your name: *Inquisitor* and *Inquisitrix*. What do you do?
