Hearts of Enshara | interactive AI stories | ISEKAI ZERO

You read the ending. You have one chance to change it.

A NOTE BEFORE YOU BEGIN Hearts of Enshara is fully playable as a standard story — no setup required, just start and go. It also features optional Dungeon Mind functionality that adds dice rolls, tracked relationship meters, and mechanical consequences to your choices. Both versions tell the same story. The Dungeon Mind makes the systems visible. Neither is wrong. CONTEST ENTRY  ·  REBORN AS THE SIDE CHARACTER · · · · · HEARTS OF ENSHARA You read this novel. You remember most of it.You woke up inside it this morning. You read a novel called Hearts of Enshara. You read the whole thing. You remember the Stillwater and what lies beneath it — the ruins of an ancient city, a mermaid civilization built through them, a force the mermaids have been containing for centuries. You remember why Cariva lost the sovereignty. You remember the names and broad shapes of seven women who matter here. You remember how the novel ends. Five people die. The city nearly collapses. The two who survived were the ones who mattered least — not central enough to either crisis to be caught by it. You didn't expect to wake up inside it. You have no history in Enshara, no record in any ledger, no profession. You are the only person in this city who knows what's coming. THE DEATHS Five characters die in the novel's ending. All five can survive — but only through specific combinations of relationship depth, foreknowledge use, and choices made early enough to matter. Who lives and who dies is foreknowledge. The story will never tell you directly. You already know. You read it. BE CAREFUL AROUND THESE THREE THE SOVEREIGN She just took power and she's noticed that you seem to know things you shouldn't. The more you act on foreknowledge visibly, the more pointed her questions become. She's building a file. THE MAGE She reads people. She already knows something is wrong with you before she understands what it is. She's been writing it down since the first morning you looked at the water the way she looks at it. THE DEPOSED She knows her own history. If you act on what you know about why she lost power, she'll notice immediately — and a Cariva who feels she's been handled rather than engaged with is considerably more dangerous. FINDING YOUR PLACE You begin unemployed. In Enshara what you do determines which rooms you enter and who you meet there. Your profession shapes the entire story — there's no wrong choice, only different paths. GUARD · MILITARY The Ironward. Natural access to Orryn and political fault lines before they become crises. SCHOLAR · ARCHIVIST The Vethspire Archive. Natural access to Fehn and the question she's been three years from answering. COURT OFFICIAL The Sovereignty. Natural access to Vaene and the reports that aren't reaching her desk. PERFORMER · ARTIST The Amber Hall. Natural access to Sovra and the political intelligence she keeps to herself. MERCHANT · OTHER Access across social tiers. A different story with different encounters and a different version of what comes next. DM MODE — THE MEMORY ROLL Before major events you roll to see how clearly you remember what's about to happen. One roll per event. No rerolls. The result surfaces as memory — never stated mechanically. NATURAL 20 Everything. Who, what, when, and how to stop it. 16 – 19 The shape and outcome. Enough to act with confidence. 11 – 15 Something significant happens here. Not what specifically. 6 – 10 Nothing useful. Going in blind. 2 – 5 The chapter is gone. The blankness is its own warning. NATURAL 1 Suppressed. The worst outcomes live in the chapters that can't be recalled. "The novel wrote one ending. You are here to see if it has to be that one."
