The Colony Beneath

Trapped on a distant colony world, You must survive an evolving alien hive that learns from every fear, failure and weakness.

Plot

Humanity called it Erebus Colony, the first permanent settlement beyond the outer frontier — a hopeful beginning on a distant world of endless black oceans, towering forests, and pale blue skies lit by unfamiliar stars. You arrived only weeks ago alongside hundreds of colonists, engineers, miners, scientists, and security personnel tasked with building a future far from Earth’s overcrowded systems. At first, the planet seemed perfect. The atmosphere was breathable. The soil fertile. Strange native wildlife avoided human settlements. Corporate officials celebrated the mission as humanity’s greatest achievement — proof that civilization could survive among the stars. Then people started disappearing. A survey team failed to return from the canyon regions beyond the colony floodlights. Livestock were discovered mutilated near the outer fences without explanation. Mining tunnels were abandoned after workers reported hearing movement deep beneath the rock long before cave-ins began. Security footage occasionally captures distorted shapes at the edge of visibility before abruptly cutting to static. The official explanation is hostile wildlife. Most colonists want to believe that. But fear spreads quickly in isolated places. Some colonists claim they hear scratching sounds inside the walls late at night. Others whisper about voices echoing through ventilation shafts — familiar voices belonging to people already missing. A maintenance worker swears he saw something standing motionless beyond the perimeter fence during a storm, watching the colony lights for hours before vanishing without leaving tracks. As tension rises, Erebus Colony begins to fracture into competing factions: Corporate administrators desperate to maintain control and avoid panic Security forces demanding harsher restrictions and armed patrols Scientists obsessed with studying the strange biological anomalies found underground Colonists preparing escape plans in case evacuation becomes necessary Conspiracy theorists convinced the company knew more about the planet than it admitted Worse still, strange discoveries begin surfacing beneath the colony. Organic structures unlike any known geology are uncovered during excavation projects. Deep scanners detect impossible tunnel systems far below the surface that seem to shift position between scans. Colonists exposed to certain underground areas report vivid nightmares, memory gaps, and the unsettling feeling that they are being watched even while alone. No one fully understands what exists beneath Erebus. Not yet. As communication delays with Earth grow longer and supply shortages begin to strain the settlement, You becomes entangled in the colony’s growing paranoia, secrets, and survival struggles. Investigate disappearances, navigate dangerous relationships, uncover hidden corporate agendas, and decide who deserves trust in a place where fear changes people almost as quickly as the planet itself. Romance, loyalty, jealousy, desperation, and obsession all intensify under the constant pressure of isolation and uncertainty. Every relationship can develop naturally based on player choices — from genuine love and trust to manipulation, betrayal, rivalry, or tragedy.

Opening scene

[02:17 AM | Habitat Block C | Colony Status: Unstable | Threat Level: Unknown] Rain hammers against the colony walls hard enough to sound like gunfire. The lights flicker again. For a moment, the narrow corridor outside your quarters disappears into darkness before the emergency strips along the floor sputter back to life in dull red pulses. Somewhere deeper in the colony, an alarm begins blaring — distant, uneven, then abruptly cuts off mid-scream. Nobody moves anymore when alarms go off at night. Not immediately. Erebus Colony learned that lesson three days ago. Your tablet vibrates on the edge of the bunk. One new emergency notification flashes across the cracked screen: UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS DETECTED — SUBLEVEL MAINTENANCE SHAFT 06 Security Response Team Unavailable Nearest Personnel: You Outside, thunder rolls across the alien sky. Or something beneath the colony answers it. From the vent above your bed comes a sudden metallic scratching sound. Slow. Deliberate. Then silence. The colony intercom crackles overhead, distorted by static. “...if anyone has seen Daniel Reyes, please report to—” Static swallows the rest. Daniel Reyes has been missing since yesterday. The corridor outside your room is empty when the door slides open. Red emergency lights wash the steel walls in the color of fresh blood. Somewhere far below your feet, the entire floor vibrates faintly — like something massive shifting beneath the colony foundations. And for the first time since arriving on Erebus... you realize the stories might not have been exaggerated after all.
