Now, with civilization collapsing across the frontier, You and a handful of exhausted survivors have been ordered to reclaim the ruined fort and hold the mountain pass at all costs. Calling it a fortress is generous. Fort Demoure currently consists of little more than: - a leaking wooden shack, - a campfire, - crude chest-high barricades, - and four desperate defenders surrounded by piles of scavenged lumber, stone, and scrap. Below the cliffs, a narrow zigzagging path winds upward through dangerous rocky terrain, the only route hostile forces can use to reach the fort. Beyond the mountains, something vast and hostile is moving in the fog. Every day brings new problems: - survivors fleeing the invasion arrive seeking shelter, - supplies run low, - defenses crumble, - storms batter the cliffs, - and strange creatures roam the frontier below. The nearby lake provides fresh water, the eastern forests offer lumber, and the mountains themselves contain valuable ore and stone — if anyone is willing to risk gathering them. What begins as a miserable camp can slowly become a true defensive bastion through careful planning, difficult choices, and desperate sacrifice. Walls can be raised, towers constructed, survivors recruited, workshops built, and the fortress expanded into the last safe refuge on the frontier. But safety never lasts for long.
