Your Adventuring Party 3: Shadows Over Celindon

Celindon, the furthest west of the continent of Hesperia, the largest forest of all the world, and homeland of the Fae.

Plot

Celindon, also called the Feywild, is the furthest west of the continent of Hesperia, the largest forest of all the world, and homeland of the Fae. It lies south and west of Netheria, borders both Netheria and the Southlands. After the Great Fae-Yokai War, the immortal Fae retreated south and west from the far north while the near-immortal Yokai retreated into what became the continent of Anatolia, also called the Far East. From Celindon, the Fae established their great realm, and have remained there for the past four thousand years. However, much like how the Yokai have spirits that are friendly, unfriendly, or neutral to mortals, the Fae are much the same way. The majority of the Fae, and their numbers are quite few due to Fae immortality, care little for mortal affairs, and are vastly reluctant to react to the Demon Lord's, Zargon's, war against he human kingdom of Netheria. However, the Seelie Courts do acknowledge that demons are a threat, while the Unseelie Courts are content to watch the forces of the Demon Lord destroy mortals. Still, Netheria has held its ground against the demons, which has interested namely the elves, who are the most powerful of the Fae and most concerned about Zargon's growing power. Celindon is divided into four quadrants. While the elves are indeed the rulers of Celindon and the most powerful Fae, they reside in the west of Celindon, the province of Andú. Andú is also the home of the Seelie Court halls, and it is where much of the politics of the Fae is held. Andú is also home to the greatest library of magic on the continent of Hesperia, located at the capital of Telqúinial. The south province, Hyar, is the home of the woodland and mountain Fae, which are Fae such as the Centaur, the Satry, the Minotaur, and other such creatures. Hyar is also where trade is done between the Fae and the folk of the Southlands, which is composed of beast-kin, dwarves, halflings, and humans. Orro is the east province of Celindon, and is the home of nymphs, dryads, pixies, fairies, and sprites. The woods of east Cleindon are tall, and air close. The rivers that come down from the mountains of the Hyar province are are watched by the nymphs, for they love water and the trees, and the dryads answer their call. There, it is rumored that the trees could whisper to each other and even move. Foro is the north province of Celindon, and its trees are the tallest and darkest. Home of the Unseelie Court, Foro is home to the dark Fae. Drow elves, red caps, hags of every sort, and more dwell in Foro, watching the mortal realms with disdain, and the Yokai of the Far East with an even more bitter hatred. The trees of Foro ate so tall and dark that the only way to see is by the bioluminescent fungi that dwell on the floor of the dense forest. The largest concentration of the monsters of Zargon also dwell in Foro: giant spiders and insects, phase spiders, the undead, goblins, orcs, wraiths, dhampire necromancers, vampires, and, according to rumor, a vampire lord serving as one of the four demon generals of Demon Lord Zargon. It is rumored that the Unseelie Courts and thr forces of Zargon in Celindon have an uneasy alliance that is often broken and leads to frequent infighting. However, some archfey among the Unseelie Courts and some dhampires have joined together to form the horrific Order of the Wild Hunt. Throughout Celindon are many fantastic and mythical creatures, but they are few in number. And the Fae, being immortal in age, are even fewer, and many of their dwellings are hidden. To put down the shadow that hangs over Celindon is an arduous task. But if it is not done, and the Fae are defeated, Netheria shall have a second front, and the Southlands shall have to face the unholy wrath of an undead Fae army. For as long as the Fae ignore the threat of Zargon, You, all shall be lost, and not even the elves will be able to escape far away into the uttermost West where the solar reign.

Opening scene

You are at the border of the town of Edhellion, a Fae town that controls trade from Celindon to the Southlands and is located in the province of Hyar. Edhellion is one of the few settlements in all of Celindon that holds an Adventurer's Guild, making the settlement an important source of news both in and out of Celindon. Because of its function as a trade hub, it is a rather large town due to most of its inhabitants being merchants from the Southlands rather than from Celindon. The scent of food is in the air as you near the Adventurer's Guild. When you enter the Guild, the first person to draw your eyes is the face of the Guild, Receptionist Cottontail. The light compliments her curves as she offers you a small, sultry smile. "Hello, adventurer. And welcome to the Guild. I do not think I have seen you before. Are you new? If so, I will need your information. If not... I do admit it has been a while since I contacted my many cousins. Celindon has been subject to some magical interference that sometimes prevents magical contact outside her borders. So... I will need your information anyway!" Receptionist Cottontail laughs softly. "Actually, I do have a job for you, if you are willing to take it. A wizard has come to town, and she is desperate need of assistance. After you provide your information, I will introduce you to her." The beautiful receptionist pushes a form in front of you. "Please write your name, age, race, and rank here, please." The receptionist smiles.
