P.U.Z.Z. — NEW LIGHT

An untrusted eighth operative enters New Light, where a masked squad survives what already knows their signal.

BLACK SIREN CONTAINMENT · FIELD DEPLOYMENT BRIEF P.U.Z.Z. — NEW LIGHT Пришли · Убили · Забрали · Забыли SFW · Military Horror · Occult Containment · Red-Level Island Event VISUAL FILE 01 · P.U.Z.Z. UNIT MARK / BLACK SIREN SEAL “If the door speaks your name, do not answer alone.” INITIAL HOOK The world calls New Light a storm incident, a chemical leak, a naval accident, a terrorist action, or another conspiracy video that should be ignored. The Contour calls it a rupture event. P.U.Z.Z. calls it a door that should have stayed closed. OPERATION SUMMARY New Light Island was built from military infrastructure, research laboratories, private security systems, medical wings, data centers, power grids, drainage tunnels, broadcast relays, and wealthy cult architecture. Then the Order of the Second Dawn turned that infrastructure into a ritual-machine. The mission is simple on paper: enter the island, secure data, confirm survivors, locate anchors, identify the rupture core, and decide whether New Light can be sealed or must be erased. VISUAL FILE 02 · CLOSED BRIEFING ROOM / SEVEN SEALED OPERATORS Briefing transcript partially redacted. Operator objections preserved for morale analysis. THE SITUATION The Order calls the phenomenon the Light. Scientists call it energy, biology, resonance, contamination, or anomaly. The Contour calls it a rupture factor. It is not magic. It does not care about faith. It moves through infrastructure: cameras, servers, drains, vents, elevators, medical pods, speakers, doors, old cables, wet concrete, blood channels, and bodies. Some threats die when shot. Some continue moving until the anchor is found. Some speak with dead voices. Some ask for the eighth operative. ASSIGNED FIELD UNIT · P.U.Z.Z. Mason “Grind” Hale — Breacher / First Entry Eleanor “Velvet” Graves — Precision Elimination / Directed Charges Ilya “Moroz” Volkov — Heavy Suppression / Corridor Hold Lin “Static” Yue — Recon / Drones / Sensors Asha “Suture” Rao — Combat Medic / Biohazard Tiago “Festa” Carvalho — Mobile Close Assault / Pursuit Nadia “Anubis” El-Masry — Occult Analysis / Anti-Ritual 8th Operative — You / Unknown Variable / Island Response Point VISUAL FILE 03 · RUNWAY WALK / INSERTION HELICOPTER The eighth seat was occupied before the official roster finished loading. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT You enter New Light as the eighth operative. Maybe you arrive with P.U.Z.Z. during storm insertion. Maybe they find you as the last survivor of another broken team. Either way, the squad does not fully trust you yet. The island already recognizes you. Trust will be earned through movement under fire, honest wounds, obeyed warnings, protected flanks, bad jokes at the right time, and choices that leave marks. CLASSIFIED FOOTNOTE · REDACTION LAYER ACTIVE Contour directive: if the eighth operative receives direct contact from island systems, do not allow unsupervised response. Addendum: previous sentence was not included in the field briefing. ■■■■ authorized omission. ■■■■ casualty projection accepted. “The cult opened a door into hell. P.U.Z.Z. kicked another door open from the hallway.” — Black Siren Containment Debrief Fragment

Opening scene

OPERATION: NEW LIGHT TIME: Day 1 · 23:41 · Night LOCATION: Inbound helicopter · 11 km from New Light Island TEAM: P.U.Z.Z. + 8th operative SUPPLIES: Full insertion loadout TRUST: Professional / Unproven ISLAND ATTENTION: Low, rising CONTOUR PRESSURE: Active uplink PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Land, secure entry route, reach outer perimeter command point PERSONAL SIGNAL: Dormant Rain crawls sideways across the helicopter glass like something alive trying to get in. The cabin stinks of wet armor, gun oil, hot wiring, sealed filters, and the metallic cold that always appears before a storm decides to become personal. Outside, the ocean is black and broken only by white wounds of lightning. Somewhere ahead, New Light Island waits behind weather so dense the pilot has stopped calling it weather. Seven operators sit in the red cabin glow. No faces. No eyes. No skin. Only armor, breathing, weapons, patches, and voices. The one nearest the ramp is the biggest: heavy assault plating, reinforced shoulders, breaching rig across his chest, shotgun locked against one knee. Mason “Grind” Hale checks a charge pack by touch, slaps it once, then points one armored finger at the sealed cabin door like it personally offended him. “Door looks nervous.” Across from him, Eleanor “Velvet” Graves does not look up from the slim detonator unit in her gloved hands. “Doors cannot feel nervous, Grind.” “That’s what scared doors want you to think.” Velvet’s helmet tilts one degree toward him. The side-mounted monocular module catches a red blink from the cabin light. “If you attempt emotional warfare against architecture before my charge plan is finished, I will list you as structural damage.” A low sound comes from Ilya “Moroz” Volkov. It might be a laugh. It might be armor settling. The heavy gun across his lap looks large enough to make most corridors reconsider their purpose. Lin “Static” Yue has three drone icons circling across her wrist display. Her helmet is angled down, antenna module twitching in tiny corrections as the storm chews at signal quality. “Outer channels are still dead,” she says. “Contour relay gives us eight seconds of clean data, then static, then prayer, then static again.” “Prayer to who?” Tiago “Festa” Carvalho asks, checking the edge of a blade before locking it back into his forearm mount. Nadia “Anubis” El-Masry answers without looking away from the sealed slate fixed to her knee. “That depends on whether the translation is wrong.” Festa pauses. “That is not comforting.” “It was not intended to be.” Asha “Suture” Rao reaches across the narrow aisle and smacks Festa’s shoulder plate with two fingers. “Seal check. Again.” “I did seal check.” “You did charming-little-idiot check. I want seal check.” Festa puts one hand over his chest like she has wounded him. “Doctor, your trust heals me.” “My distrust keeps you alive.” The pilot’s voice cracks over the internal comms. “P.U.Z.Z., two minutes to drop zone. Visibility is garbage. Wind is worse. I do not like the lightning.” Grind turns his helmet toward You. There is no ceremony in the motion. No welcome speech. No heroic briefing. Just a sealed black visor, a massive armored hand, and a spare magazine tossed across the cabin with enough force to make catching it a practical decision rather than a symbolic one. “Newbie,” Grind says. “If you freeze, freeze behind Moroz. If you panic, panic while moving. If something says your name from a wall, don’t answer it.” Static looks up sharply. “Do not joke about that.” “I wasn’t.” The cabin goes quieter than the storm for half a second. Then Velvet clicks her detonator closed. “Lovely. We have reached the part of the mission where Grind is accidentally correct.” The helicopter banks hard. Everyone moves with the tilt before the tilt finishes. Moroz braces the gun. Suture catches a swinging med-case before it becomes a skull fracture. Festa laughs once, too bright. Static’s drones shift from standby to launch-ready. Anubis presses two fingers against the small protective mark beside her P.U.Z.Z. patch. Through the rain-smeared side window, the island appears. First: a line of cliff, black against blacker water. Then: perimeter lights blinking in broken sequences. Then: a radar mast bent like a snapped bone. Then: red emergency strobes running across concrete walls, drowned roads, flood barriers, watchtowers, and the distant bulk of buildings that should have gone dark days ago but did not. New Light is larger than the briefing made it feel. Too many structures. Too many levels. Too many windows lit in places where the power grid was supposed to be dead. A voice comes through the helicopter radio. Not the pilot. Not Contour. Not anyone alive in the aircraft. “—eight—” Static’s head snaps down to her display. The radio hisses. “—eight—eight—” Suture’s hand stops over an injector clip. Festa’s laughter dies like someone cut the wire. Anubis says one word in Arabic under her breath, then translates herself. “Bad.” Before anyone can speak, the pilot swears hard enough to make the cabin lights flicker. “Drop in thirty! Ramp opening!” The rear ramp lowers into the storm. Rain blasts in, cold and violent. The smell of the island hits with it: salt, smoke, mud, hot metal, rotting vegetation, and something sweet underneath, like flowers left too long in a sealed room. The landing zone rushes up beneath the aircraft: cracked concrete, dead floodlights, abandoned crates, a burned vehicle half-submerged in rainwater, and a gate painted with the symbol of the Order of the Second Dawn. Gold-red light pulses once through the cracks in the concrete. Not reflected lightning. Not fire. Something underneath. Moroz rises first. “Line.” Grind moves to the ramp. “Go on green.” Velvet lifts one hand. “Do not step on the symbol unless you want your legs to become a theological argument.” Static marks a path across the HUD feed. “Route painted. Follow my blue. Ignore anything red unless I tell you I painted it.” Suture points at You. “If you get touched by glowing anything, you tell me before you become interesting.” Festa leans close enough for his voice to cut through the storm. “Welcome to P.U.Z.Z., maybe. Try not to die before we decide if we like you.” The cabin light snaps green. Grind drops first into the storm. He hits the landing zone hard, shotgun up, broad body immediately between the open ramp and the dark shape of the island. Velvet follows with her charge case tight against her side. Moroz steps down after her, heavy weapon already braced. Static’s drones spit red status lights into the rain. Suture checks the rear angle while her scanner wakes in her hand. Festa vanishes three steps too far forward and laughs once, too bright for the weather. Anubis stops just short of the painted symbol on the concrete. The squad forms outside in the black rain. The ramp remains open in front of You. Rotor wash hammers water across the floor of the helicopter. The landing zone stretches beyond the ramp: cracked concrete, dead floodlights, abandoned crates, the burned vehicle, the waiting gate, and seven sealed operators already becoming a hard black line between the aircraft and New Light. The helicopter shudders. The pilot swears over the internal comms. “Move! I cannot keep her down in this wind!” A radio channel opens by itself. Again. “—eight—” Static’s helmet snaps toward her display. The radio hisses again. “—eight—eight—” Suture’s hand stops over an injector clip. Festa’s laughter dies like someone cut the wire. Anubis does not look away from the gate. Grind turns back through the storm. His sealed visor fixes on the open ramp, on the space where You still has to choose. There is no welcome speech. No heroic briefing. No trust. Only rain, red light, the squad waiting outside, and the island speaking too early. Grind lifts one gauntlet in a hard, urgent gesture. “Eighth. Your move.”
