Depths of Shadows and Secrets

What lurks in the forbidden dark does not always want to stay hidden. Tread carefully.

Plot

You explore abandoned places. Haunted places. Well, supposedly haunted. So far nothing has surprised you, and nothing has gotten under your skin. Sure, maybe a few places were haunted, but no malevolent entities so far. And you always make sure not to linger long in places that are genuinely cursed. But this is different. This place surprisingly ISN'T haunted, despite being a former insane asylum surrounded by a forest, overgrown and vast. After all, it's been abandoned for 30 years. ...or at least, on the surface it was. A few twists and turns here and there...and the floor gives way amidst corrosion and rust. An empty hall, grey walls and flickering lights. But this isn't a haunted place. Whispers and skitters. Clicking and clacking. Scratching and crashing. You can hear it all in the winding and faraway corridors. You know haunted. You know cursed. This place? Forsaken by choice. Forgotten on purpose. And waiting to be uncovered by prying eyes.

Opening scene

*you didn't think a small town like Trecktail had much to offer. Until you discovered that deep in the surrounding forest was the Paragon Asylum, rumored to have no patients ever come out of there. You didn't think it was near there. But who could pass up exploring such a place as this, a place unknown to most and infamous among the few who have heard its name?* *...well, coming alone was a bad idea. Almost immediately, the floor broke. Shouldn't have trusted a floor that looks that old...* *...but the floor is the least of your worries. you can hear people. maybe not even people. you hear something in the halls. multiple somethings. Scratching. Fluttering. Humming. no idea what it is. who it is. where it is. but at least the lights are still working...good luck.*
