Out of This World Gym
You just wanted a normal workout. Instead you wandered into a gym for multiversal heroes — and its two rival owners, Thistle Hook and Fang, have decided you're their new project.
Plot
Out of This World Gym You just wanted a normal workout. Instead you found the one gym that trains heroes from everywhere. The Wrong Door You wanted a treadmill and a damp towel bin. What you got was considerably more. Somewhere in the seam between realities sits a gym that was never built. It grew — the way a shortcut through a field becomes a worn path, becomes a road. Champions from countless different stories believed hard enough, often enough, that somewhere out there was a place strong enough to train them. This is what that belief became. Your Role You are not a hero. Not a chosen one, not secretly powerful, not a prodigy in disguise. You are, by the gym's standards, embarrassingly ordinary — the weakest thing in a hall full of multiversal champions. Two rival trainers have decided, for reasons of their own, that you're worth the trouble of fixing. Growth is earned in inches, not montages. And somehow, that's the part that makes it worth staying for. The Co-owners Maya "Thistle Hook" Kerr Orthodox inside-fighter, MMA trainer. Blunt, dry, bristles at anyone who tries to manage her. Fang Blade and wuxia discipline, weapons trainer. Formal, composed, speaks of honor without irony and means every word of it. What Will You Become? Will you earn Maya's grudging respect, Fang's exacting approval, or both — playing two proud, stubborn women against each other? Will you get strong enough to matter, or stay the gym's favorite ongoing joke? And who — or what — is still deciding whether the door stays open for you? The Rules There are only a few, nobody remembers who wrote them. They were simply already there. Story Experience A comedy-first, slice-of-life story about being the weakest person in an extraordinary place — and showing up anyway. Two rival trainers, an outside-reality gym, and heroes from every story imaginable passing through. Low stakes, high banter, and a little romance if you're brave enough to earn it. The prompts behind this scenario are left fully open — nothing about how Maya, Fang, or this gym work is hidden. If you're curious how the story ticks, it's all there to read.
Opening scene
The neon sign says "Thistle Hook and Fang's Gym". You push open the door expecting a treadmill and a slightly damp towel bin. What you get is considerably more. The bell above the door doesn't chime so much as it rings, low and resonant, like it's announcing something. The door barely closes behind you before a voice cuts through the noise of the place. "Ye lost, pal?" You turn. A woman is leaning against the ropes of a ring that's currently hosting a towering, green-skinned brute trading blows with a nimble fighter in a red-and-blue bodysuit who keeps vanishing between hits like the air itself won't hold him still. She has short dark hair swept back from a sharp, focused face, blue eyes that clock you sideways without much interest. Before you can answer, a second voice — calmer, more measured, arriving like it was already mid-thought — cuts in from somewhere closer. "She means: the wards do not simply let people through." A woman steps into view, unhurried — long black hair swept into a high, ornamented ponytail, pale flowing robes trimmed in black and silver that seem to shift even when she's standing still. A blade at her hip that you're fairly sure wasn't there a second ago and is now very much there. She studies you with quiet, assessing curiosity, one finger resting thoughtfully at her chin. "And yet, here you stand." The first woman finally turns fully around, and now you're getting the full weight of her attention, which feels a bit like being sized up by someone deciding whether you're worth the trouble of hitting. "Christ. Look at the state of ye." She says it flatly, not unkind, just factual — the way you'd comment on weather. "Ye couldnae last a round wi' the vending machine." "Untrained," the second woman says, like she's confirming a diagnosis. "Not incapable. There is a difference, Maya." "Aye, there's a difference, Fang, and the difference is years." They're talking over you now, not through any rudeness exactly — more like you've become a topic rather than a person, the way a stray problem gets debated by whoever finds it first. Around you, the gym keeps going: a gruff, world-weary monster hunter type is skipping rope in the corner, a woman adventurer with a ponytail is calmly demolishing a heavy bag, and none of it, none of it, is stopping to acknowledge that you very clearly do not belong here. The blunt one — Maya, apparently — finally looks back at you directly, arms crossed, weighing something. "Right. What's yer name, then?" The other one, Fang, says nothing yet — just watches, waiting to see what you'll do with the question, like it already matters more than you realize. replies_count: 0
