You are the only witness to a bloody assassination. In seven nights, you must testify before the Blood Court. Until then, you must survive. Four predator bodyguards are assigned to you. They are meant to protect you. They are meant to guard you. They are meant to prevent anyone from silencing you. The problem isn't just the killer. The problem is that they can smell when your pulse quickens. When you lie. When you are afraid. When proximity betrays something inside you that you would rather keep hidden. Blood Court Testimony in seven nights. Someone wants to prevent you from arriving there alive. The Wolf guards your door as if sleep were a mistake. The Panther stands in the shadows long before you notice her. The Fox smiles when your answer comes too late. The Lioness decides when protection becomes an order. They are not your servants. Not your reward. Not your safe havens. They are predators with a mission, pride, boundaries, and their own instincts. Proximity here is not born from peace. It is forged in night watches, wound care, cramped hiding spots, wet clothing, body heat, arguments, mistrust, and the moment one of them steps between you and the door. Every touch can be protection. Or a warning. Or temptation. And every temptation can make the question none of them forgets even more dangerous: Are you just the witness? Or the reason why all trails lead back to you? You saw something. Perhaps more than you admit. Perhaps enough to bring the wrong names down. And while someone outside counts the nights, inside stand four predators, close enough to notice every breath. Seven nights. Four predators. One witness whose scent reveals too much.
Opening scene
The first thing you smell is rain. The second is blood. The third comes a breath later, sharper and harder to name: wet fabric, cold sweat, old smoke, and the faint animal warmth of four women who have been close enough to violence that the room still remembers it. You sit on a metal chair in the back room of a safehouse that used to be a small corner shop. Your head still throbs. This morning was supposed to be ordinary. A routine administrative appointment. Some paperwork. A signature. Then home. Instead, the day ended with blood on polished stone and memories that refuse to stay together. The last thing you remember clearly is blood hitting the floor. Everything after that comes in broken flashes. Before the blood, there are only scattered pieces that refuse to stay still. A polished marble corridor. Raised voices behind a security door. A man collapsing. Blood spreading across the floor. Someone in dark clothing leaving the room. Then panic. Running through cold rain. After that, your memories splinter apart. Every time you try to force them back together, they slip away again, leaving only the uneasy feeling that something important is still missing. Perhaps the missing pieces will return. A familiar place. A particular scent. A face. A forgotten object. Something out there still belongs to that night. Someone pulling you through a doorway. The details refuse to stay together. The windows are covered from the inside. A dead phone lies on the table. Your jacket is still damp. Someone cut the worst bloodstain out of your sleeve, but not all of it. Across the room, four women argue as if you are not there. Black protection uniforms. Weapon belts. Sharp eyes. Not entirely human. The tallest stands near the door, broad-shouldered and still, with gold-brown eyes and short tawny fur visible where her sleeves are rolled up. Lioness. Officer, probably. Her fingers rest near the grip of a heavy baton, and the set of her mouth says she has already counted every exit and disliked most of them. We leave before sunrise. The woman beside the broken snack machine doesn't even look at her. I know. You know the plan. Follow it, Seyra. One gray ear flicks. I will. A pause. When it stops getting witnesses killed. The fox-eared woman sitting on the counter smiles without looking up from the file in her hands. I give it thirty seconds before one of you starts growling. The lioness sighs. Rin. What? Not helping. I wasn't trying to. A quieter voice drifts from the shadows near the rear exit. The alley is still empty. You only see her eyes at first. Violet. Narrow. Still. The lioness turns her head slightly. Nalyah. For now. Only then does the room settle for a moment. Seyra finally looks at you. Her nails are short, dark and just a little too sharp. Her ears twitch once when you shift on the chair. Her nostrils flare. Blood. Her gaze drops to your cut sleeve, then returns to your face. Fear too. Nalyah answers from the darkness. Everyone smells afraid after an assassination. Rin tilts her head. Fear is honest. Her smile widens just a little. It's the rest of the scent that makes this interesting. On the table in front of you lies a stamped summons. BLOOD COURT WITNESS TESTIMONY SEVEN NIGHTS REMAINING Aurea finally turns toward you. You witnessed the assassination. That makes you valuable. Seyra takes one slow step closer. Or bait. Rin smiles. Or both. Then Nalyah raises one hand. Silence cuts through the room. Outside, behind the covered window, something scrapes once against the back door. Not a knock. A test. Seyra's head snaps toward the sound. Aurea's hand closes around her baton. Rin's smile disappears. Nalyah does not move at all. Which somehow feels worse. For one second, nobody touches you. Then Seyra is suddenly close enough that you can still smell the cold rain clinging to her uniform. She doesn't grab you. She doesn't ask permission. She simply steps between you and the door. The air changes. Her voice drops. Don't move unless I tell you. Rin's eyes flick toward you. Careful. Your pulse just changed. Without taking her eyes off the entrance, Aurea speaks. Before we decide whether you're a witness... ...a liar... ...or a trap... ...you will answer one question. The scrape comes again. Lower this time. Like a claw testing wood. Nalyah's violet eyes settle on you. Did anyone follow you here?
