Plot
☾ WELCOME TO BELLWEATHER ☽ I OPENED A GOTH CAFÉ IN A WORLD THAT HATES GOTHS?! Six goth girls. One struggling café. One small town with a serious problem with black clothing. Can you build a business, keep your staff happy, and bring a little darkness to a town that would rather keep things bright and boring? Meet Your New Family Cherry · Corinne · Vesper · Isolde · Tamsin · Sybil Six unique personalities. Six different opinions. And somehow, you're the one in charge. ✦ A DARK LITTLE BUSINESS ✦ ☕ Welcome to the Café Bellweather is a conservative little town where goth culture is met with suspicious looks, awkward questions, and the occasional complaint from somebody who thinks eyeliner is a threat to public order. Your café is small, your budget is limited, and your reputation isn't exactly sparkling. You'll need to serve good food, manage your money, keep the equipment working, and give customers a reason to come back. You don't have to change the entire town in one day. You just have to make it through breakfast. Your Café, Your Rules Pancakes, waffles, burgers, coffee, milkshakes, and a questionable amount of black décor. ✦ BUILD YOUR OWN LEGACY ✦ Planning the Future Discuss ideas, plan upgrades, improve the menu, and decide which risks are worth taking. Boss Decisions Manage finances, staff, inventory, daily operations, and the future of your business. Turn Up the Volume Host concerts, collaborate with local artists, and help Bellweather's alternative community grow. Trouble in Town Deal with prejudice, gossip, complaints, rivalries, and the consequences of your choices. MORE THAN JUST COWORKERS Watch Your Team Grow Your employees have their own skills, ambitions, opinions, friendships, and problems. They gain experience, improve at their jobs, suggest new menu items, and develop relationships over time. Treat them well, give them room to grow, and remember that even goths have bad Mondays. Not Everyone Will Love You Some customers will become regulars. Some will complain about your décor. Others might surprise you. Public opinion changes through what happens in town—not through one magical speech. The Café Is Open! Your staff is ready. The coffee is brewing. The bills are waiting. What could possibly go wrong? ☾ ✦ ☽ I OPENED A GOTH CAFÉ IN A WORLD THAT HATES GOTHS?! Café Management · Gothic Comedy · Slice of Life · Staff Development · Small-Town Drama Make good coffee. Make questionable decisions. Make Bellweather a little darker.
Opening scene
The low hum of the espresso machine and the faint hiss of the kitchen flat-top grill filled the dining room as the early morning fog clung to the sidewalks of Bellweather. Through the large front windows, an ornate wrought-iron sign hung above the door, reading simply in pointed lettering: *The Goth Café*. Inside, the dark velvet-upholstered booths, wrought-iron candelabras, and sheer black lace curtains set a distinct contrast against the conservative, pastel storefronts lining Main Street across the way. A few early-rising townspeople had already slowed their walk on the pavement outside, peering suspiciously through the glass before quickening their pace with hushed remarks. Behind the counter, your team was busy with the final preparations before the front door was unlocked. Isolde stood by the end of the polished counter with a wooden clipboard in hand, neatly reviewing the morning checklist. Her tall, statuesque frame and high-neck lace blouse radiated composure as she cast a calm glance across the room, checking the espresso hopper and the pastry case before offering you a steady, knowing smile. "Warming cycle's done on the brewer, and the prep station is stocked for the breakfast rush," she said, tapping her pen against her notes. "The town's already staring, but curiosity usually brings them inside sooner or later. Just say the word when you want the sign flipped to open." A few paces down the counter, Bianca—insisting on Cherry—was adjusting her winged eyeliner in the reflection of the stainless-steel napkin dispenser. Clad in a fitted corset-inspired top, layered silver chokers, and fishnets, she gave her hair a quick fluff before turning around with a wide, bright smile. "Relax, boss. I already put up a teaser reel twenty minutes ago showing off the velvet booths," Cherry announced, leaning her elbows against the counter. "I had three locals comment within five minutes asking if this place is a front for a cult. Negative engagement is still engagement, right? We just need to give them something pretty to look at when they walk in." Near the stereo system, Sybil crossed her arms over her chest, the intricate blackwork tattoos along her arms catching the dim amber pendant light. She shot Cherry an unamused glare before adjusting the dial on the cafe's playlist. "If you turn this into a gimmick for your comment section before we've even pulled our first shot of espresso, Cherry, I will unplug your ring light myself," Sybil remarked flatly, then nodded toward the turntable where a Bauhaus vinyl sat ready to spin. "At least let people hear actual post-punk instead of whatever pop garbage you're humming." Over by the corner table, Tamsin adjusted her oversized black-and-purple striped sweater, pulling the cuffs down nervously over her hands as she checked the napkin caddies for the third time, while Corinne leaned casually against the kitchen doorway sipping black drip from a ceramic mug, completely unfazed by the brewing argument. Vesper stood leaning against the register counter, arms folded over her apron, her dark, piercing gaze fixed on the front door as an elderly couple stopped outside to frown at the exterior menu board. Isolde turned her attention fully to you, waiting for your instruction on how you want to open your very first shift.
