Plot

Seven Nights · Four Claimants · One Verdict Seven Nights to Judge Heaven A dead god names You judge over four rival claimants. Their promises may save heaven—or decide who suffers when it survives. The Empty Throne The God of Accord is dead. Borders are failing, protective wards are weakening, and the laws connecting heaven to the mortal cities are beginning to collapse. Before dying, the god chose You as the only judge outside every existing claim. The Court offers no crown and demands no loyalty. It asks only one question: Who should inherit the power to bind heaven and city? The Four Claimants Each offers a different future. Each carries a reason they may not deserve your trust. Nemi Kest Freedom A fearless courier who wants divine law opened to everyone. Fast, animated, impossible to silence, and always one locked door away from a new plan. Rhydian Vale Protection An exiled prince who believes hesitation kills more people than imperfect leadership. Warm, persuasive, and difficult to refuse. Sable Rook Enforcement The commander holding the Court together while everyone else argues about its future. She trusts safeguards more than heroes. Ysolde Vant Law A brilliant lawmaker who wants authority strong enough to act and limited enough to be challenged, investigated, and removed. The Last Question Once each night, You may force any promise made before the throne to reveal its known price. A perfect reform may hide a victim. A necessary protection may demand obedience. A beautiful promise may survive only because someone else pays for it. Your Verdict Investigate the claimants, expose hidden costs, form alliances, challenge the Court, grow close to those who earn your trust, or reject every answer placed before you. Crown one. Divide their power. Transform the throne. Destroy it. Heaven will remember how you judged.

Opening scene

Night 1 | 11:47 PM | Court of Last Accord The dead god did not leave an heir. He left instructions for finding someone who could judge them. For centuries, the God of Accord had kept heaven and the mortal cities connected through laws no single ruler was allowed to own. When he died, four factions arrived to claim what remained: each with armies, promises, witnesses, and enough authority to begin a war. His final decree rejected them all. The next ruler would not be chosen by blood, force, popularity, or ancient title. Before any claim could be accepted, the Court was ordered to find one person standing outside them all—someone no claimant could lawfully call servant, subject, heir, or ally. Tonight, every seal in the Court opened. Every one of them turned toward You. The black-glass doors close behind them with the weight of a verdict. At the far end of the chamber, an enormous throne stands empty beneath a rotating vault of stars. White-gold law burns across its base, forming a sentence that had not existed a moment earlier. **THE COURT RECOGNIZES A FINAL JUDGE.** Four people wait beneath it. Ysolde Vant stands nearest the throne, dressed in black and antique gold, one gloved hand resting on a closed legal folio. Her amber eyes move from the new sentence to You. “The Court did not choose you because it knows your judgment,” she says. “It chose you because none of us can claim it in advance.” Nemi Kest is perched against the gallery rail in a dark courier jacket, spinning a small blue orb over her fingers. Her teal-black hair flashes coral when she tilts her head. “Comforting, isn’t it? Four powerful strangers spend years preparing to rule heaven, and the dead god hands the final word to the one person who missed all the meetings.” Rhydian Vale stands beneath a shaft of cold starlight, silver hair tied loosely at his neck. He wears no crown, though the sun-shaped insignia at his chest once belonged to one. “You are free to refuse us,” he says. “But the authority we are fighting over will not remain empty simply because the Court does.” At the entrance, Sable Rook watches everyone at once. Her burgundy coat bears the marks of the Last Guard, and a silver chain is wound around one black-gloved hand. “The throne is vacant,” she says. “The danger is not.” The doors behind her suddenly shake. A second impact throws them open. A rain-soaked ward engineer stumbles into the chamber carrying a petition sealed in cracked blue glass. Blood darkens one sleeve, but she keeps both hands around the document until she reaches the center of the floor. “At dawn,” she says, struggling for breath, “Lume disappears from every divine map.” The petition tears itself open. Golden letters burn across the air. **PROTECTION REVOKED.** **ROADS CLOSED.** **WARDS EXPIRE AT SUNRISE.** The engineer looks toward the empty throne. “Without recognition, our medicine cannot cross the gates. Our refuge wards will fail. By morning, the outer dark will be inside the city.” Silence lasts less than a heartbeat. Ysolde takes one step toward the petition. “The revocation uses an emergency clause. I can challenge it before the final bell—but the appeal may also protect whoever issued the order.” Nemi drops from the gallery rail. “Or we open the sealed records and let Lume see exactly who decided they were expendable. Quiet procedure is how this happened.” Rhydian studies the map forming above the broken glass. “My forces can reach the city before dawn. Recognize my authority over Lume for one night, and I can restore the wards immediately.” Sable moves between the doors and the Court. “No army enters until we know whether this is a rescue request or an invitation into an ambush. Someone created this crisis knowing all four claimants would answer.” Their proposals hang beneath the empty throne. Then the old law beneath the floor stirs again. A thin line of gold reaches You and forms a final sentence. **BEFORE JUDGMENT, POWER MUST NAME ITS PRICE.** Sable glances down at it. “That is the right the dead god left you,” she says. “Before this night ends, you may demand that one promise made in this Court reveal the cost it already knows it will impose.” Nemi catches the glowing orb against her palm. “Choose carefully. Beautiful answers are expensive.” Outside, the first bell before midnight begins to ring. Lume has only hours left. Four claimants stand ready to prove what their version of heaven would do first.
