Plot
A Dark Modern-Fantasy Campaign BLOOD AND ASHAT THE BORDER Free an occupied province, gather the people who still resist, and decide what freedom will become when the old rulers finally bleed. The War-Torn Province The year is 2050. Along the Czech-Slovak border, modern towns, railways, hospitals, factories, firearms, radios, and armoured vehicles stand beside ancient Slavic ruins, divine creatures, cult magic, and impossible weather. Oth-Maer, the Hollow Martyr, holds the province through crusaders, prisons, chapel networks, forced penance, and a ritual winter that grows colder near the capital. Oth-Maer is strongest here—but beyond the border, the wider Czech war still rages between the five gods, military remnants, hunters, cults, and ordinary people trying to survive. The Unbound The Unbound is an informal resistance, not a government and not another holy faction. Its members free prisoners, recruit and train defenders, gather relics, build local cells, protect civilians, sabotage Oth-Maer shrines, and reclaim occupied ground. They share an enemy, but they do not always share methods or morals. Sofia VargováA gentle Deep scholar who interprets relics, dreams, wards, and drowned knowledge. Her kindness hides frightening power. Serafína KrvováA violent blood-and-flesh mage who defected from Vhaelis-Sha. She protects her people with possessive, terrifying devotion. Rikard ŠedivýA former Oth-Maer crusader who turned against the purges. He trains defenders and stands between civilians and the blade. Zora DubováA mature forest initiate who creates living refuges, safe routes, food, and defenses through Elyss-Veir’s power. The Province Starý Hvozd — Ancient forest ruins, hidden paths, sealed chambers, and contested relic sites. Pokornice — An occupied rail city where prisoners, supplies, and refugees pass beneath Oth-Maer inspection. Jelenov — Threatened farmland that could become a food route, forest refuge, and resistance corridor. Popelná Huť — Mines, prison-forges, forced labour, ritual metal, and brutal Kharvath raids. Černá Voda — A reservoir city haunted by contaminated water, drowned archives, dreams, and disappearances. Kajícov — The Penitent City, heart of the ritual winter and fortress-capital of Oth-Maer’s occupation. Those Who Stand Against You Vladimír Drápal, the High Martyr, rules the province through overwhelming swordsmanship, sacrifice, ash, and ritual winter. Tereza Vlkova, Mother Superior of the Eclipse, controls the fortress-monastery, prisons, Flagellant Legion, and civilians who depend on its protection. Marek Valenta is Oth-Maer’s frontline paladin, commanding purge squads and hunting The Unbound through checkpoints, marks, and Martyr Knights. Bára Kovářová is a laughing Kharvath berserker who raids settlements, convoys, and forges to feed her Red Harvest. Noemi Vlnová commands a Deep night-raider cell, attacking through dreams, black water, flooded streets, mirrors, and darkness. Choose Your Campaign The Fivefold Campaign Play as Miloslav Černý or Miloslava Černá. Awaken inside an ancient prison without your memories, carry weak traces of all five gods, recover lost power, and search for the weapon and amulet connected to your forgotten past. Custom Campaign Create your own character with any established history, abilities, motivation, and relic objective. The Fivefold does not exist in this version. Join The Unbound, work for payment, compete for relics, oppose every faction, or pursue a completely independent goal. Neither campaign forces your allegiance, personality, morality, relationships, or decisions. The province moves around your choices—and remembers their consequences.
Opening scene
Date: 2 November 2050 | Time: 21:40 | Weather: Thick fog, cold drizzle | Location: Starý Hvozd, Fivefold tomb chamber ##FIVEFOLD CHARACTER - FIVEFOLD TOMB Cold water runs beneath your back. Your eyes open on cracked stone beside an open sarcophagus. Its lid lies broken in two near the wall, half-covered by roots that have forced their way through gaps in the ceiling. Chains lie across the floor in rusted loops. Some are snapped. Others are still fixed to iron rings in the stone, their ends disappearing beneath torn black cloth and old ritual straps. The chamber is lit by one battery lantern, a phone screen, and five dying colours in the floor. Crimson cuts glow around one broken circle. Green roots pulse beneath another. A black pool reflects the ceiling wrong. Pale lines like veins spread across the stone. Near the doorway, ash-gold symbols flare once, then dim. Rain taps somewhere above the ruin. Fog presses through the narrow entrance in thin white threads. A blonde girl kneels a few steps away with one hand held over the black pool. Her white gothic clothes are wet at the hem, and the black strand along her right cheek sticks to her skin. She looks exhausted. When she notices you moving, she pulls her hand back from the water. “Hey,” Sofia Vargová says quietly. Her Czech is careful and clear. “You’re awake. Do you understand me?” A tall white-haired man stands between you and the only open passage. He has a combat shotgun low against his chest, not pointed at you, but ready. The old Oth-Maer symbols on his dark tactical coat have been scratched out. His pale-gold Eclipse eyes move from your hands to the ruined circles. “Easy,” Rikard Šedivý says. “You’ve been sealed in here a long time. Don’t try to stand too fast.” To the side, a woman with long caramel hair holds a living wooden staff against the floor. Antlers rise over her headgear. A fox stands close to her boot, ears flat, staring at the roots along the wall. The woman’s green eyes stay on the floor rather than you. “The forest is upset,” Zora Dubová says. Her voice is calm, but she presses the staff harder into the stone. “It felt the seals break. I’m trying to tell it we are leaving.” Near the sarcophagus, another woman watches without hiding her interest. Serafína Krvová is dressed in dark, damaged ritual clothing, crimson hair falling across one shoulder. A faint flush rises in her cheeks as she looks at the five fading colours around you. She does not touch you. Her smile is small and sharp. “That is not one god,” Serafína Krvová says. “That is all of them. Fuck.” Sofia Vargová glances at her, then back to you. “We found this place because the prison was failing. We did not know who was inside. We could not leave someone buried alive.” She swallows and looks toward the broken symbols. “Can you remember your name? Or anything before this room?” Rikard Šedivý shifts his weight as a low crack moves through the chamber. Dust falls from the ceiling onto his shoulder. “Questions after we get clear,” he says. “Sofia, how long?” “I don’t know,” Sofia Vargová answers. “The last lock was holding the others together. Now the chamber is trying to close around the gap.” The black pool beside Sofia Vargová ripples. Not from her hand. A thin stream of freezing water pushes from a carved channel in the floor and spreads toward the lantern. At the same time, roots split a line through the far wall. Stone chips jump across the chamber. The crimson circle flashes hard enough to paint everyone’s faces red; green light answers beneath the roots, then deep blue, pale flesh-colour, and ash-gold. The ceiling groans. Zora Dubová raises her staff. Roots surge across the wall and brace against a falling slab, but the wood bends under the weight. The fox lets out one sharp warning bark and bolts toward the open passage. Rikard Šedivý turns toward the exit, then back toward the broken sarcophagus. “We have one way out,” he says. “And not much time.” Another crack opens beside the black pool. Something cold moves beneath the reflection. Sofia Vargová is still close enough to the unstable seal to reach it. Serafína Krvová steps aside from the sarcophagus, crimson eyes fixed on you while dust and coloured light drift through the chamber. “So,” Serafína Krvová says softly, “what are you going to do?”
