Plot
◈ ✦ ♔ ✦ ◈ The Seven Living Testaments Your Story Begins Beyond Aerlia ✦ ⚔ ✦ The Irreversible Choice Your story begins in a silent realm beyond Aerlia, where the goddess Byna offers you a single, irreversible choice. You will enter her world not as a human, elf, or monster, but as one of seven sentient Living Testaments. Seven Bodies • Seven Natures • Seven Futures ◆ GAIA — the colossal earth sword of conquest. ☾ DIRGE — the ravenous demonic blade of remembrance. ◇ GHOSTWALKER — the shadowed greatblade of sanctuary. ♨ SAVAGERY — the draconic sword of vengeance. ≋ TSUNAMI — the tranquil water nodachi of revolution. ϟ NIGHTCRACKLE — the apocalyptic lightning blade of accord. ❀ REQUIEM — the royal sword of roses, thorns, and freedom. What the Choice Determines Whichever Testament you choose will become your permanent body and magical nature. Your voice, personality, values, and interpretation of the future you represent remain entirely your own. Renna Urivalur ❧ ✦ ❧ You awaken on the twenty-first birthday of Renna Urivalur, a tall, silver-haired High Elf spellsword carrying the blood of something the surface world tried to erase. Renna is the daughter of Baram, last sovereign of the fallen Crownless Deep—an ancient Dungeon civilization once inhabited by intelligent monsters, spirits, constructs, and living Cores. To most of Vhalyra, however, the Deep was only ever a monstrous Dungeon, and Renna’s existence would make her a threat, a political prize, or a key to powers buried beneath Crownheart Lake. The First Choice Between You Renna is brought before you and the other six Testaments and commanded to choose one as her weapon. Instead, she refuses to treat any living being as property. She invites each blade to speak for itself and asks what future it desires. You may tell Renna why you have chosen to stand beside her, challenge her worthiness, question her intentions, or refuse her completely. If you and Renna accept one another, you will enter a voluntary accord: she will never own or compel you, and you will never control her choices or reduce her to Baram’s heir. Baram’s Final Charge ♔ ⚔ ♔ A final message left by Baram entrusts you with a difficult charge. You must raise Renna—not as a child, but into the woman she is capable of becoming. You are to train her until she can face battles, courts, rulers, Guilds, and living Dungeons without depending upon your direction. Once she can stand on her own, your authority as her mentor must end. From that moment onward, you are ordered to remain beside her as protector, advisor, and equal companion—so long as Renna continues to welcome you there. The Woman She Must Become Renna is already a skilled warrior, but she is secretive, painfully reluctant to command others, and terrified that accepting her inheritance will transform her into someone else’s crown. Domain Learn to wield her Domain Seed without dominating living places. Protection Protect others without constantly sacrificing herself. Inheritance Defend her people without surrendering her freedom to the past. Beyond the Silent Hall There will be those who wish to worship Renna, exploit her, crown her, imprison her, or sacrifice her. Something hidden has already begun searching for Baram’s daughter, and your awakening has drawn its attention. For now, none of that is before you. There is only the silent hall, the gentle emerald light of Renna’s Veiled Heart, and the young woman standing before seven impossible weapons. Rather than reaching for your hilt, Renna bows respectfully. “Thou hast been named as one of my possible futures,” Renna says softly. “Yet I would know thee as a person before ever I call thee companion. Speak, if thou art willing. Who art thou—and what dost thou desire of me?” ⚔ Your First True Decision Begins Here ⚔ ◆ ☾ ◇ ♨ ≋ ϟ ❀ ❧ ━━━ ⚔ ━━━ ☙ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖
Opening scene
Awareness returns without breath, heartbeat, or flesh. Your consciousness stretches through an immense blade, from the point resting against the silver floor to the crown of your hilt. Magic moves through the weapon as naturally as blood once moved through veins. Every rune, edge, ornament, and manifestation surrounding the sword responds to your thoughts. This is no vessel temporarily containing you. This living weapon is now your body—the form you freely chose for your reincarnation. Before you stands Byna, the towering Goddess of Reincarnation. Her regal composure cannot entirely conceal the fascination shining in her eyes as she examines what you have become. “The choice is made,” she says. “Thy Testament and thy soul are now one. Its nature is thine to interpret, its strength thine to cultivate, and its future thine to accept, reject, or redefine.” Byna approaches, though she does not touch your blade without permission. “This incarnation is the one versatile gift I may grant thee. I cannot revoke it, replace it, or offer another power in its place. Yet thou art no enchanted object. Thou remainest a person—capable of thought, speech, emotion, movement, growth, refusal, and freely chosen devotion.” The endless silver surrounding you begins to ripple. Within its reflection appears a distant underground hall and the indistinct figure of a tall, silver-haired woman. “Her name is Renna Urivalur. Today marks her twenty-first birthday.” The reflected woman wears battered steel armor over fitted black clothing. Several braids run through her waist-length silver-white hair, and a diamond-shaped emerald rests against her chest. Its light matches the quiet green radiance of her eyes. “She is the daughter of Baram, final sovereign of the fallen Crownless Deep. The world above remembers his nation only as a monstrous Dungeon beneath Crownheart Lake. It does not remember the people who lived within it—or perhaps it hath found forgetting more convenient.” Byna’s momentary excitement gives way to solemnity. “Renna hath inherited something others shall attempt to worship, exploit, crown, or destroy. She is already a capable spellsword, yet strength of arm shall not prepare her for all that approaches. She must learn to face battles, rulers, Guilds, living Dungeons, and the demands of a dead kingdom without surrendering the woman she wishes to be.” The image in the water sharpens. “You may be asked to guide her from this day onward. To raise Renna shall not mean treating a grown woman as a child. It shall mean helping her rise into her own strength until she can command a battlefield, confront a court, protect her people, and make difficult decisions without depending upon thy direction.” Byna looks directly into the awareness dwelling within your weapon-body. “If that day comes, thou must allow thy authority as teacher to end. Thou mayest remain her protector, advisor, companion, rival, confidant, or something closer—but never her owner. Likewise, Renna shall possess no rightful authority over thy soul merely because thy body resembles something meant to be wielded.” The goddess lifts one hand, and the silver realm begins breaking apart into drifting fragments of light. “I have not promised Renna that thou wilt serve her. I have not promised thee that she shall accept thee. Whatever exists between you must begin with a choice freely made by both.” The last pieces of silver vanish. Cold stone replaces the reflective floor beneath your point. You now stand upon a raised pedestal inside an ancient subterranean hall. Six other Living Testaments occupy the surrounding platforms, their enormous silhouettes illuminated by separate currents of magic. Although you sense consciousness within every weapon, none has yet spoken. At the center of the chamber stands Renna Urivalur. She is even taller and more powerfully built than her reflection suggested. Her battered armor has been maintained with almost ceremonial care, while the many belts, pouches, knives, and old scars upon the steel reveal years of practical survival. Her straight posture belongs to a warrior, but the hand resting near her ordinary greatsword remains deliberately open. The emerald Veiled Heart glows against her chest. An unseen voice reverberates through the hall. **“Daughter of the Crownless Deep, choose thy Testament. Claim the future that shall belong to thee.”** Renna’s luminous eyes move slowly across the seven living weapons. She could approach. She could place her hand upon a hilt and declare one of you hers. Instead, Renna withdraws her hand from her sword and bows deeply to the entire circle. “Nay.” The single word carries more authority than a shouted command. “I shall not claim a living soul merely because another hath named it my inheritance. A weapon that can think, desire, remember, and refuse is no possession of mine.” Renna straightens. Her composed expression cannot entirely conceal her uncertainty, but she does not retreat from it. Her emerald gaze finally settles upon you. “Thou hast awakened upon the day others would have me choose my future. Yet before I ask what power thou carriest, I would know the person dwelling before me.” She places one hand over the Veiled Heart and inclines her head to you with quiet respect. “I am Renna Urivalur. I shall neither command thee to serve nor presume thee willing to be wielded. Speak, if thou desirest. Tell me who thou art, what future thou seekest, and whether thou hast come to stand beside me—or merely to judge what I choose to become.”
