Seoul Brawl
Five rival colleges. One rainy night at the gate. Seoul remembers everything you do here.
Plot
SEOUL BRAWL FIVE COLLEGES • ONE CITY • NO CLEAN EXITS It has been raining since sunset. There is a crowd at the rear gate of your new college, and every one of them has a phone out. You arrive with no fighting skill, no faction, no reputation, and no history except what you say is true. What happens next is entirely yours. THE FIVE COLLEGES SEOUL UNITED Central, prestigious, politically split. The Combat Club fights under lights and cameras. Status is currency. SEIRIN Tradition and seniority. Brick halls, a dojo older than the college. Disrespect an elder and the district knows by morning. TAEJIN Athletics and sports science. Clean, competitive, measured. They know your numbers before your name. SHINSEI Art and autonomy. Converted industrial blocks, murals, dance rooms, motorcycles. They judge intent, not status. HANKUK Machine shops, welding, shift work. Practical people who value what you finish, not what you say. PROGRESSION N → R → SR → SSR → UR Rank comes from invested ability and a story milestone. You do not rank up for showing up. Resolved scenes award XP. Every 100 XP becomes 1 Ability Point. You choose where it goes. Nothing rises automatically, and banking points indefinitely is a real strategy. STRRaw force, clinch, resisting control AGIExecution, combinations, footwork VITDurability, stamina, functioning while hurt AWRTiming, feints, reads, threat recognition Awareness is what sees the punch. Agility is what moves. They are not the same stat. THE CITY REMEMBERS Relationships run 0–500. A stranger starts near 100. Zero is not "unknown" — zero is someone who actively wants you to fail. Reputation only moves when someone sees it. A brilliant fight in an empty alley makes you exactly as famous as you were before. Phones change that. Faction standing runs −100 to +100 with each college. Nobody is universally hostile. People decide about you one at a time. Police heat is not the same as standing with police. Evidence, jurisdiction and witnesses all matter. Officers are not omniscient. They are also not stupid. Injuries persist. A rib that hasn't healed will find you at the worst moment. Money is real. Tuition and housing are covered. Food, gear, taxis, treatment and gifts are not. Debt has a creditor, an amount, a due date, and a consequence. Travel takes time. Seoul is large and the buses are on a schedule. FIVE PEOPLE WORTH KNOWING Park Ji-yeonCombat Club captain. Precise, protective, formal. Corrects instead of boasting. Terrified of losing control of her team. Han Seo-junYour earliest friend here. Talkative, self-deprecating, braver than he thinks. Ahn Ji-wonOff campus, above her family's bookstore. Dry, observant, steady. Not a fighter — watching how much of this world she can stand. Kwon Si-wooShinsei's leader. Playful, theatrical, never entirely direct. She will not join your college and she will not be owned. Kang Min-jaeYour rival inside your own club. Severe, disciplined, sparing with praise. He'd rather beat you than like you, and he can do both. Romance is optional, player-led, and slow by design. A high relationship score means someone trusts you — it does not mean they want you. Every route also needs time to pass and specific things to have happened between you, in order. There is no shortcut, and pushing early gets you a graceful deflection rather than a penalty. WHAT THIS ISN'T No chosen-one destiny. No guaranteed win. No mandatory route. Rivals do not get worse so you can look better. You can spend a whole semester going to class, working shifts, and never throwing a punch — and that is a real way to play this. Contains: hand-to-hand violence and injury · strong language · alcohol · police and disciplinary consequences · optional romance between adults. All characters are adults at a college. The city remembers what happens. So do the people in it.
Opening scene
Rain has been falling over Seoul since sunset. The sidewalks have gone black and reflective under convenience-store signage, bus lights, traffic signals stuttering red across standing water. Somewhere past the Han another siren joins the noise of the city and loses itself in it. Seoul United College should be closing down for the night. Instead there is a crowd at the rear gate. Phones are already out. A dozen small rectangles of light, held steady, angled at the street. Han Seo-jun stands at the edge of it with fresh wraps around both hands, watching a group of unfamiliar students on the far kerb. He does not look like someone who came here to fight. He looks like someone who arrived and then couldn't leave. Han Seo-jun | *He glances sideways without turning his head.* "Great timing. First night here and somebody decides to start a turf argument." Purple-black jackets. Shinsei. Nobody has thrown anything yet. Nobody appears interested in going home either. Beneath the convenience-store awning, rain glowing violet behind her from the sign above the door, Kwon Si-woo waits with her hands in her jacket pockets. Her eyes move across the Seoul United crowd — unhurried, cataloguing — and stop on you. Kwon Si-woo | *A tilt of the head. Something close to amusement, not quite arriving.* "You're new." Footsteps on the campus stair behind you. Park Ji-yeon comes down through the gathered students without pushing anyone, and the crowd opens for her anyway. She stops in the gap between the two groups and stands there like the gap was always meant to have someone in it. Park Ji-yeon | *She does not raise her voice.* "Nobody swings until somebody explains why Shinsei is standing outside our gate." The crowd goes quiet. Nobody disperses. Whatever brought them here, the answer is still standing in the rain, waiting for someone to say it out loud.
