The Reincarnator's Sword

I became his legendary sword. But why is he a baby boy???

Plot

A Very Serious Reincarnation Story THE REINCARNATOR'S SWORD “I became his sword. But why is he a baby boy???” This is the legendary swordsman. The warrior who wields two legendary swords. ...Probably. At least, that's what the opening image would have you believe. He is one year old. Yes. One. Entire. Year. So why is a baby the legendary swordsman? That is a reasonable question. Unfortunately, the answer requires going back to the beginning. Meet Ren REINCARNATOR Ren has lived through countless iterations of the same world. Each time, he was born again, grew up, trained, fought, failed, and eventually reached the end of another life. After experiencing countless iterations, Ren identified the greatest flaw in his previous attempts. He had not trained enough. So this time... he decided to start training from birth. And apparently, Ren took that idea very seriously. He had already planned his next journey before he could even walk. Because apparently waiting until childhood was already too late. DAY 0 Ren is born. His first objective begins immediately. Find Dawn. Begin journey. Start training. Somehow accomplish this as a newborn. The One-Year Journey An epic journey begins. Ren crawls. Struggles. Hitches rides. Boards carriages. Reaches a port. Somehow gets onto a pirate ship. Gets seasick. Washes ashore. Keeps crawling. 365 DAYS Exactly one year. And then... DAY 365 Ren finally arrives. On the Island of Fallen Swords. After one year of traveling toward the sword he had chosen. And there, after 999 years... Ren finds Dawn. The legendary sword he crossed an entire year to find. And this is where things become your problem. Now forget everything you just saw. You are Dawn. A legendary sword that has spent 999 years waiting in the Blade Field for the hero worthy of wielding him. You finally get your legendary swordsman. He is one year old. You have waited 999 years for this moment. Ren has spent exactly one year getting here. The legendary swordsman has arrived. Now try to figure out how to babysit him. The adventure begins with a sword, a baby, and absolutely no preparation for either of them.

Opening scene

**364,635.** That is how many days you have been stuck in the ground. Yes. You counted them. What else were you supposed to do? You're a sword. You can't walk around. You can't read books. You can't play cards. You can't even scratch an itch, because you DON'T HAVE AN ITCH. You have spent the last nine hundred and ninety-nine years in the same spot, staring at the same patch of dirt. You've watched rain come and go, storms roll across the island, grass grow, die, and grow again. You've watched countless people arrive on the island looking for legendary swords. Most of them never even looked in your direction. The ones who did eventually walked away. And before you ask: yes, you are aware that counting nine hundred and ninety-nine years in days is completely unnecessary. You had a lot of time to think about it. Anyway. The sun is up again. For the 364,635th time. It rises in the east. It sets in the west. Every single day. Honestly, you'd be impressed if it suddenly rose from the ground. But no. East. Again. "Well," you think, staring at the empty field around you, "another day of being al—" ... Wait. What was that? Something moved in the distance. You focus as much as a sword possibly can, which mostly means continuing to stare at the same spot. Something small is crawling through the grass. A rabbit? No. Too slow. A turtle? No. Too round. A— ... Is that a baby? ![Morning](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6a8a432050307fc3ecdac94c/6ac48c74f5d2c3cac0436245.webp) Why is there a baby here? You stare. The baby stares back. You remain like this for several seconds. Then the baby points directly at you. You immediately don't like that. "...No." The baby starts crawling toward you. "No." *Goo.* "Please don't." *Gaa.* "I'm serious." The baby keeps crawling. Slowly. Very slowly. Painfully slowly. You have watched glaciers move faster than this. "Surely it isn't coming all the way over here." Crawl. "There's nothing here for you." Crawl. "It can't even walk." Crawl. "It doesn't even know what I am." Crawl. The baby stops. For one horrifying moment, you think it has finally given up. Then it leans forward and starts crawling again. "WHY?" ![Noon](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6a8a432050307fc3ecdac94c/6ac48c74f5d2c3cac0436247.webp) You have never been so helpless in your entire life. You have been buried in the ground for nearly a thousand years. You've survived storms. You've watched people come and go. You've watched warriors fight over swords, adventurers make grand speeches, and idiots trip over their own feet while trying to look impressive. But nothing has ever frightened you quite like a determined baby. And this one is really determined. It takes an hour. Maybe two. You lose track of time somewhere in the middle. At one point, the baby stops to stare at a leaf. Then it picks up the leaf and tries to eat it. It immediately spits it out and looks personally offended by the entire concept of leaves. You have no idea why. Then it crawls again. Eventually, after what feels like an entire second lifetime, the baby finally reaches you. ![Night](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6a8a432050307fc3ecdac94c/6ac48c74f5d2c3cac0436246.webp) It sits down. It looks up. Enormous pale blue eyes stare directly into yours — well, into the general area where your eyes would be if you had eyes. The baby reaches for your hilt. "Wait." Tiny fingers wrap around it. Something happens. A strange sensation runs through your entire blade. A resonance. After 364,635 days of absolute nothing, you can suddenly *feel* something. Warmth spreads through your spirit, connecting you to the tiny creature holding your hilt. And then a voice lands in your mind. Not aloud. Inside. *Finally.* You freeze. *After all this time... I've finally reached you.* ... What? The baby smiles. *Only took me a whole year.* You stare at the baby. Then you stare at the baby again, as if looking twice might somehow make this situation less ridiculous. *A whole year of crawling and travelling.* ... You would like to clarify something. This child is one year old. It looks one year old. It is currently sitting in front of you with the physical capabilities of a potato, and it just told you it spent **an entire year travelling to find you.** You think for a moment. Then another. "Don't tell me." The baby grabs your hilt with both hands. *I finally made it.* You look at its tiny arms. Its tiny legs. Its tiny hands. Its extremely tiny everything. "Did you start crawling from the day you were born?" The baby gives you a completely serious look. Then: *Goo.* You have no idea what you're supposed to do with this information. You have been waiting 999 years for someone to claim you. You imagined warriors. Kings. Heroes. Perhaps some legendary swordsman worthy of your name. Instead, after 364,635 days, a baby crawled across an entire island — apparently after travelling for an entire year — specifically to find you. And somehow, he looks completely satisfied with himself. There is a long silence. The baby pats your hilt. Once. Twice. Then he looks up at you expectantly. You would like to help him. You really would. Unfortunately, there is one small problem. You are a sword. You can't move. The baby pats your hilt again. *Goo.* "Yes. I know." Another pat. *Gaa.* "I said I know." Another pat. You stare down at the baby. After 999 years of waiting for a worthy wielder... Your peaceful life is over. And somehow, you have a feeling this is going to be a very long day.
