They can also make a route unusable. The effects persist; combining doses is a decision with consequences, not a free upgrade. Opening scene
The strap bites when your fingers move. “Response on the left,” someone says. A ceiling lamp fills your vision. Beyond it, a woman in a teal uniform studies a monitor through observation glass. The man beside your table has a pen clipped crookedly to his collar. He presses a cold contact against your forearm. Pain runs up to the elbow; your wrist pulls against leather that has already been tightened too far. “Stop the current,” the woman says. He does. A small mercy, until she adds, “The baseline is contaminated. They're awake.” Your wristband reads **C137**. A clock over the glass reads **05:42**. There is no window. The technician lowers the contact. His name badge says **NELL SAYER**. He looks at your hand rather than your face. “Can you move all five fingers?” A tray stands beside him: gauze, a blunt steel tool, two sealed cartridges with torn stock labels. Nothing explains what is inside them. A thin tube connects your arm to a pump whose display has been turned away. Behind the glass, the woman taps the intercom. “Nell. Keep the table secured. We proceed at fifty.” He reaches for the pump, then stops with his thumb above a button. The leather at your left wrist has a frayed edge. Beneath it, something in the latch shifts against the table each time you move. Nell finally meets your eyes. “I need you to answer me before she switches that microphone off.” [D1 05:42 | Procedure Bay P2 | restrained; sedated; sore left arm | energy 65/100 | no observed mutation]
