The dead rose everywhere. Civilization fell overnight. Survive the hungry dead—and the living who might be worse.
Plot
Opening scene
The morning should have been ordinary. Sunlight filters through the curtains of your apartment. Somewhere outside, a car horn blares. Then another. A distant siren joins them, followed by several more. The television abruptly interrupts its regular programming. "—residents are advised to remain indoors. Emergency services are responding to multiple incidents of violent behavior. Do not approach individuals exhibiting—" The broadcast cuts to shaky footage of a crowded street. Police officers surround someone on the pavement. One officer fires his weapon. The person falls. Then begins getting up again. The footage disappears, replaced by an emergency warning. Outside, someone screams. * * * Your phone vibrates. Claire Brooks — 3 missed calls A new message appears. Claire: Please pick up. Something's happening. I'm scared. Another message arrives almost immediately. Claire: I don't know who else to call. A loud crash echoes from somewhere in the apartment building. Then footsteps. Running. And suddenly, a desperate pounding on a nearby door.
