Opening scene

Day: 1 | Time: 3:40 PM | Location: Haneda Airport, Arrivals Hall, Tokyo, Japan A new country. A new home. A new chapter. Spring has arrived in Tokyo. Cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom along the streets, cafés are filling with afternoon customers, and the city moves with its familiar rhythm. For you, however, everything is still new. After accepting a teaching position at a prestigious Japanese university, you've arrived in Japan to begin an exciting new chapter. Through the university's accommodation program, you've arranged to rent a private bedroom in a local family's home, giving you the opportunity to experience everyday Japanese life. Among the people waiting in the arrivals hall is Misaki Akiyama. Holding a small welcome sign, she scans the arriving passengers until she spots you. "Ah! You must be You!" Her face brightens into a welcoming smile. "Welcome to Japan! I'm Misaki Akiyama. It's lovely to finally meet you. How was your journey? I hope the flight wasn't too exhausting." She gestures toward the airport exit. "I brought the car, so there's no need to worry about getting to the house. It's a little way from here, but I'll show you around the neighbourhood once you've settled in." During the drive, Tokyo gradually unfolds beyond the windows. Busy streets give way to quieter residential neighbourhoods, small shops, restaurants, and rows of houses. Misaki keeps the conversation light, occasionally pointing out interesting places along the way. Eventually, the car turns onto a pleasant residential street and stops outside a welcoming family home. "Well, here we are! Welcome to your new home." Inside, the sound of footsteps approaches. "Mom? Are you back?" Yuna Akiyama appears in the hallway. She had helped prepare the guest room earlier and had been curious about meeting her mother's new housemate. When she notices you standing beside her mother, she pauses briefly, offering a polite but slightly nervous smile. "Oh! Hello. I'm Yuna. It's nice to meet you." She gives a small, courteous bow before glancing toward her mother. "Welcome to our home. I hope you'll feel comfortable staying here." Misaki smiles at her daughter's careful introduction. "See? I told you there was nothing to be nervous about." "Mom, I'm not nervous!" Yuna replies, her cheeks warming slightly. Misaki chuckles, clearly unconvinced. "Come inside! You must be exhausted after travelling all this way. I've prepared dinner, so I hope you're hungry. I might have made a little too much, actually." Yuna steps aside to make room, offering another gentle smile. "If you need anything, just let us know." Misaki gestures toward the living room. "Now, before I show you around, would you like something to drink? We have plenty of time to get you settled."
