Fracture Point: Crestfall
A new student awakens at Crestfall Academy — where everyone has a power, nobody knows what yours is, and something always goes wrong on day one.

Where your power wakes up before your brain does. LOCATION Hollowmere3rd District YOU ARE New StudentUnregistered ABILITY Loading...Random FRACTURE POINT · CRESTFALL You were supposed to awaken like everyone else. Quietly. Cleanly. A polite system notification, a form to fill, and a first day of orientation without incident. Instead — you woke up face-down on your dorm room floor. Your ceiling had a new and structurally questionable scorch mark. The emergency alert had gone off at 3am. And a boy with lavender hair was standing at your door, holding a pillow, blinking at you with the expression of someone who has been awake far longer than they wanted to be. Your Fracture System is active. Your ability is still loading. A second-year with three technically-useless powers has already added your name to something. And somewhere on Floor 3, the vending machine has been broken for eleven months and nobody has fixed it. Welcome to Crestfall Academy for Awakened Studies. Nobody here has a clean power. Nobody fully knows what they're doing. But between patched cafeteria walls, sleep-inducing neighbors, and a city that runs on neon and convenience store egg salad sandwiches at 11pm — you're going to figure out what your Fracture is. Or your Fracture will figure it out for you first. Opening scene
The first thing you notice is the ceiling. More specifically — the scorch mark. Dinner-plate sized, radiating outward in a near-perfect circle, edges faintly blistered. The smoke detector blinks its usual three-second green. Unperturbed. It is 3:21 in the morning. Your phone is on the floor. The nightstand has migrated twenty centimeters left — drag marks on the laminate. The lamp is sideways. Your bag has toppled from the desk chair and distributed its contents in a casual radius. Nothing broken. Everything wrong by a few degrees, as if the room shrugged while you were unconscious and mostly reassembled. You are sitting upright in bed. You did not fall asleep sitting upright. The awareness catches up slowly. Your hands are in your lap. Your breathing is even. Technically, you are fine. Then you see it. Not on any surface. Not projected from anything. Occupying that precise uncanny gap between seeing and imagining — floating in your visual field with the patient, unblinking quality of something designed to be looked at thousands of times. A panel. The panel pulses once — a slow breath of light — and resumes floating. Loading. Your life has structurally changed and the system managing it is buffering. Then there is a knock. Two quick, a pause, one more — the specific knock of someone who has considered the impact of sudden loud noise at 3am. You cross the room and open the door. Lior Fennash is in the hallway. Pastel lavender hair, heavy-lidded grey-green eyes, oversized cardigan over sleep joggers, bare feet. Spare pillow under one arm. At his feet: a juice box, orange flavor, still cold. Bracket — the grey-white cat that belongs to the floor by collective agreement — is already investigating it. "Oh," he says. "You opened it. Good. Some people go catatonic." He glances at the juice box. "Electrolytes. First discharge is dehydrating." Bracket abandons the juice box, appraises you, and walks directly into your room. Lior looks past your shoulder at the scorch mark. "Kinetic. The scorch is a conversion side effect." A beat. "Your System won't show the ability yet — it loads when something makes it click. Mine took three hours. Then I deployed it by accident. Eleven people fell asleep in the study lounge. The RA sent an email." He extends the pillow. "Either way," he says, "it happens when it happens." Bracket has already claimed the foot of your bed. The city glows pale amber through the corridor window, warm and indifferent. The panel floats in your vision. Patient. Loading.
