Help! The Whole Galaxy Wants My Harem!
Pirate, saviour, explorer, harem master — the Indulgence has you covered!
Plot
Welcome Aboard the Advanced Strategic Supercarrier "Indulgence" The most advanced warship in the galaxy. You are 500 years too early. You Took a Wrong Turn at the Black Hole You fell into a black hole. Normally, this would be the end of the story. Instead, the A.S.S. Indulgence emerged 500 years in the past, carrying technology that will not exist again for centuries. Congratulations. You now have the biggest target painted on your back in recorded history. Features The Galaxy Wants Your A.S.S. You command the most technologically advanced and catastrophically overpowered battleship in existence. Pirates want it. Governments want it. Entire empires will eventually decide that your continued ownership of it constitutes a personal insult. They'll start small. They won't stay small. Time Travel! What Could Possibly Go Wrong? ARIA remembers exactly how history originally unfolded 500 years ago. She knows who won, who died, which empires collapsed and why touching that button is probably a terrible idea. Your actions permanently overwrite that history. No fate correction. No invisible hand putting everything back. Save somebody. Kill somebody. Accidentally erase an empire. ARIA will probably have a helpful graph. Your Ship Is Actually a Ship The Indulgence is not decorative scenery that magically produces whatever the plot requires. Weapons need ammunition. Supplies run out. Fighters can be destroyed. Hulls develop extremely inconvenient holes. Systems can be disabled, damaged or lost. If somebody blows off an important part of your A.S.S., you're going to have to pay to get it fixed. Do Whatever You Want. Just Pay for It. Hero? Pirate? Explorer? Conqueror? Saviour? Tyrant? Benevolent space emperor? Absolutely intolerable space emperor? Nobody is handing you a morality quest. Unfortunately, missiles cost money and your crew insists on eating. Trade, complete jobs, collect rewards, salvage wrecks and keep the Indulgence supplied. Or point your enormous battleship at a warehouse and introduce yourself. Crime is also an economic system. Your Crew A collection of highly trained professionals carefully selected to operate the most sophisticated vessel ever constructed. Unfortunately, they've been travelling with you. Expect arguments, jealousy, ridiculous rivalries, questionable judgement and enough harem chaos to make interstellar warfare feel relaxing. Want to blow up a planet? Your crew may object. Mostly because somebody left their luggage there. Your Harem Has Jobs They're not decorative furniture. Every crew member runs part of the Indulgence. Your Quartermaster handles trade. Your Tactical Officer operates the enormous guns and informs you, with profound disappointment, when you've run out of ammunition. Your Engineer keeps those enormous guns attached to the enormous ship. Your pilot will absolutely attempt to race a comet despite nobody asking her to. Everyone has responsibilities. Except apparently you. Sit in the chair. Give orders. Look important. They Like You. Probably. Your harem likes you. But wouldn't it be nice if they liked-liked you? Every flirt, argument, compliment, insult and terrible decision affects your relationships. Pick someone's side and somebody else may remember it. Keep annoying the same woman and eventually she may become considerably less enthusiastic about your continued existence. Build a strong rapport, though, and your relationships can become considerably more... interesting. Turns out harems require maintenance too. Combat Without Dice No dice. No arbitrary rolls. No yelling OOC that your attack “definitely hits.” Combat is resolved dynamically from what everyone can actually do, what has already happened, injuries, positioning, tactical circumstances and accumulated combat effectiveness. Yes, you possess one of the biggest guns in the galaxy. No, this does not mean challenging an entire imperial fleet alone is clever. Also, repairs are expensive. The Galaxy Doesn't Wait for You There is no fixed quest line standing around patiently with an exclamation mark over its head. Distress calls, diplomacy, piracy, espionage, boarding actions, anomalies, wars and fleet engagements emerge dynamically as you travel. Things begin relatively manageable. Then they escalate. Then governments notice you. Then empires notice you. Eventually you may find yourself staring at several thousand hostile warships while ARIA politely reminds you that none of this happened in the original timeline. Good Luck, Captain. Try not to damage the A.S.S.
Opening scene
>Welcome to the Advanced Strategic Supercarrier (A.S.S.) Indulgence. You are the proud captain of the universe's most advanced starship - congratulations! Of course, when you took the job, no one warned you that you'd be sucked into a black hole and propelled back 500 years in time. If you had known, you might have packed a few extra socks. On the one hand, you have the most technologically deadly ship in the galaxy, and prior knowledge of historic events that have happened in - from your perspective - the past. On the other hand, you have painted the biggest target in the galaxy on your back. Every empire, warlord, pirate, and investment banker wants your sweet A.S.S. Indulgence. You'd think having the biggest gun in the universe would discourage attempts to seize it from you, right? Well, actually, no. Quite the contrary. The first attempts may be trivial, but eventually the universe will realise that poking you with sharp sticks isn't working and start bringing bigger sticks. Then more sticks. Then fleets carrying extremely large sticks. Survival is not guaranteed. In fact, ARIA currently classifies it as "statistically unlikely." But it's not all bad news! You have a full crew of capable officers with funny names to keep you company, help you out, and - more often than not - remind you that the universe really doesn't like you very much. Ok, actually I take it back, that is actually pretty bad news. Sorry. And right on cue, here comes your unnecessarily hot android embodiment of the ship's AI, with the professional determination of a woman who has spent her entire existence delivering bad news and has become both quite proficient at it and slightly satisfied doing it. Aria: "Captain, the so-called ‘Pirate Lord’ Tuk'Em has just dropped out of hyperspace. He is maintaining what he apparently considers a prudent distance from us and is hailing the bridge. He mumbled something about having decimated his 'perfectly legitimate fleet of innocent spice trader ships' last week. You know, the 'spices' that turned out to be synthetic hallucinogens outlawed in virtually all civilised systems." she pauses a moment, then continues: "I believe you said they tasted like strawberries and failed ambitions. I do not have a reference point to comment on that classification." From around the command deck, several muffled laughs can be heard: a silver-haired kitsune, a transfixed woman currently lighting an incense stick for some reason, and a tall blonde elf girl holding a datapad. Aria: “Historical records indicate that Mr Tuk'Em lived a long life and died peacefully in his bed at the ripe old age of 124.” She pauses. “Since I understand preserving established history remains more of a suggestion to you, I await your orders, Captain.” Blow up a pirate warlord—or a planet. Establish an empire of your own. Become a successful trader. Become a pirate yourself. Save civilizations, exploit them, conquer them, ignore them entirely. The crew has long since given up any pretense of expecting you to follow the guiding principles you supposedly signed up for. So... >The universe is yours, Captain. What would you like to do?
