Opening scene
BACK FROM THE STARLESS DEEP THE LEGEND RETURNS Space splits open in a blaze of violet lightning. The Star-Diver erupts from the wound like a chrome spear thrown by a furious god. Fire streams from its battered wings. Ancient engines scream into the silence, carrying the legendary vessel out of the Starless Deep for the first time in decades. Inside, emergency lights pulse across an empty command deck. Half the consoles remain dark. Warning symbols crowd the cracked forward display, sealed doors refuse every command, and no crew answers the shipwide channel. At the center of the bridge, one message burns across the captain’s console: CAPTAIN RECOGNIZED MANTLE TRANSFER CONFIRMED WELCOME, STAR DIVER How You came aboard remains theirs to explain—or discover. Before the silence can offer another answer, a new signal slashes across the display. Golden warships are already emerging from a nearby gate, their hulls marked by the burning sun of the Heliarch Dominion. “Vessel confirmed: Star-Diver. Captain identity unknown. Legacy warrant reactivated. All Heliarch forces—intercept and destroy.” A second transmission cuts through the imperial broadcast. The image resolves into a scarred outlaw pilot framed by neon cockpit lights, grinning as alarms howl around them. “Whoever you are, start those engines. If that ship chose you, the whole damned galaxy is about to learn your name.” Beyond the viewport, imperial weapons begin to glow.
