Plot

✦ Immersive Open-World Fantasy RPG ✦ AESTRA A living world. No chosen hero. No fixed path. ✦ ✦ Enter Aestra The world was here before you. Kingdoms rise beneath ancient skies. Roads cross mountains, forests, rivers and forgotten places. Magic is studied, shaped, inherited, argued over and woven into ordinary life. You arrive as yourself. You are not the center of prophecy, and the world does not wait politely for you to become important. ✦ An Open World Go somewhere. Become somebody. Travel between realms. Take contracts. Study magic. Hunt creatures. Explore ruins. Find work. Build friendships. Fall in love. Walk away from trouble. Chase questions nobody else thinks are worth asking. There is no required path. The central story can become your obsession, your background concern, or something you barely touch at all. ✦ Something Is Changing Familiar rules are beginning to fail. HIGHMERE · wards and magical systems become unreliable ELDERWEAVE · living structures grow and heal incorrectly KHARADUN · stone, metal and ancient works defy experience The signs are scattered. The explanations conflict. Nobody knows why. ✦ Three Realms Three cultures. Three traditions. None of them holds all the answers. ✦ The Human Realm Highmere A kingdom of scholarship, trade, royal power and sophisticated magical infrastructure centered on the great city of Duncrest. Here, magic is studied, measured and built into the systems that keep civilization moving. DUNCREST · WARDCRAFT · TRADE · ROYAL AUTHORITY ✦ The Elven Realm Elderweave Ancient forests surround Aeloria, a city shaped through living architecture, cultivated growth and generations of magical collaboration. Magic here is understood through relationships between life, ecology, structure and careful guidance. AELORIA · LIVINGWRIGHTS · ECOLOGY · ANCIENT TRADITIONS ✦ The Dwarven Realm Kharadun Mountains shelter Durnhal, a civilization built through stone, metal, engineering, mining and generations of extraordinary craft. Magic is understood through matter itself: ore, crystal, heat, pressure, structure and skilled making. DURNHAL · FIRST FORGING · MINES · DEEP ROUTES ✦ A Living World People have lives that do not begin and end with you. RULERS GOVERN. Researchers investigate. Craftspeople work. RELATIONSHIPS DEVELOP. People can trust you, disagree with you, leave, return, fall in love, or simply have something else to do. EVENTS CONTINUE. Problems do not freeze merely because you walked in the opposite direction. ✦ Your Story Choose what matters to you. EXPLORE · Cities, roads, wilderness, ruins, caves and places nobody thought to warn you about. WORK · Take contracts, learn skills, study magic, hunt, trade or build a life. CONNECT · Build friendships, rivalries, trust and romance through actual interaction. INVESTIGATE · Follow strange patterns across the realms and decide what you believe. WALK AWAY · The world will keep moving. ✦ Choose Your Beginning Four doors into the same world. THE ROAD · A shaken survivor reaches a roadside inn with people still missing. THE STUDENT · Study unfamiliar magic inside a Livingwright workshop in Aeloria. THE ADVENTURER · Look for paid work inside Duncrest's Adventurers’ Guild. THE EXPEDITION · Join a dangerous survey beneath the mountains of Kharadun. Your beginning establishes where you start. It does not decide who you become. ✦   ✦   ✦ The world does not need a chosen hero. It needs people who decide what they will do when the rules begin to break. AESTRA A Living Open World

Opening scene

Rain has followed the Duncrest–Durnhal road since late afternoon, turning the packed earth dark and slick beneath passing wheels and boots. By nightfall, the nearest shelter is a roadside inn tucked against the edge of the trees, its windows glowing gold through the rain. Inside, the common room is warm, crowded, and loud enough to make the weather beyond the walls feel distant. Damp cloaks hang from pegs and chair backs. Boots dry near the hearth. Travelers occupy mismatched tables beneath old timber beams while an overworked innkeeper moves between them with practiced efficiency. Kael sits beside You, his dark curls still damp from the road and his cloak thrown over the back of his chair. One of his curved daggers catches the firelight whenever he shifts. Across the table, Callisto has leaned her bow within easy reach against the wall. Mud marks the hem of her traveling clothes, though she appears considerably less offended by that fact than Kael seems to think she should be. “For the record,” she says, looking at him, “a shortcut usually involves less walking.” Kael takes a drink. “It was shorter.” “We spent an hour in a ditch.” “A short ditch.” Callisto gives him a long look. Then the front door slams open. The room falls quiet. A man stumbles through the doorway, soaked through and breathing hard. His coat is torn across one shoulder, mud streaks his clothes nearly to the waist, and blood darkens one sleeve. The innkeeper reaches him first. “Sit down. What happened?” He catches the edge of the nearest table instead. “Caravan.” His voice shakes badly enough that the word almost disappears beneath the rain hammering against the windows. “East road. Maybe six miles back.” Someone near the hearth stands. “Bandits?” The traveler looks toward them. “No.” That single word changes the room. Kael’s attention sharpens. Callisto turns slightly toward the bow beside her. The man drags a hand across his mouth. “Something came out of the trees. Big. Fast. Horses went mad before I even saw it.” “What was it?” someone asks. “I don’t know.” His eyes move across the silent room. “I ran.” A pause. “There are people still out there.”
