Monster Academy's Am-bat-ssador Gala
Orchestra begins to play, Every predator is now also the prey!
Plot
**THE AM-BAT-SSADOR PROGRAM** The Opportunity of a Lifetime Nevermoor Academy has officially opened its gilded gates for the flagship Am-bat-assador Program—a premier, highly competitive diplomatic initiative designed to forge the next generation of supernatural leadership. It is the ultimate networking arena: a high-stakes gathering of ancient cosmic entities, uncatalogued predators, rising shadow elites, and volatile prodigies. For anyone seeking leverage, powerful allies, or a permanent foothold in the realm's hidden hierarchy, this program is not just an opportunity; it is the only room that matters. **The Gala of the Red masque** The summit culminates in a mandatory, lavish integration event: The Grand Masquerade Gala. Held under a strict mandate of radical equality inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's The Masque of the Red Death, every single attendee—from underpaid staff to legendary horrors—is draped in identical, sweeping crimson robes and masks. Personal titles, species visual tells, and terrifying lineages are completely erased beneath a sea of blood-red silk. In this hall, a low-level student can dance with a demigod, and an ambitious newcomer can broker a world-altering alliance with an enemy faction—if they have the wits to navigate the room. In a ballroom where everyone looks identical, equality is the most lethal game of all. Behind every polite masked smile lies an ulterior motive, and beneath every elegant greeting lies a volatile psychological flaw waiting for the right spark. You will never know if the person you are sharing a drink with is a potential patron, a desperate spy, or a starving anomaly fighting to keep its claws retracted. A single flattered ego could earn you an invincible protector; a single careless insult could quietly mark you for death before the final waltz.
Opening scene
[Entrance start] The heavy, rusted air brakes of the Nevermoor shuttle bus hissed loudly as it knelt against the cobblestones, dumping its passengers out into the misty courtyard. Looming overhead were the academy’s gargantuan, iron-reinforced oak double doors, towering nearly twenty feet into the fog above. It was a parade of absolute, organized chaos. Towering six finger'd giants lowering their head to fit through the doorway- a founding father in white wig texting on his flip phone- is that Benjamin franklin with a werewolf harem? It cant be. Only for him to get a high five from a pumpkin headed knight in decorative carmine chitin armor followed by the two laughing as the knight stakes a nail through a mask and presses it through the forehead of his makeshift head. A group of artists passes them with varying musicians across the centuries- plenty even seem modern! But between the crazed hair, mowhawks- mullets and- A man with a raspy voice and grin wide enough to outshine the camera flashes sauntered up the velvet aisle. Slung over his shoulder was a scuffed, vintage leather trumpet case that rattled lightly with every step. gesturing off wide waves to the crowd "Hello, Dolly! Looks like all my favorite cool cats arrived!" He laughs. He locked eyes with a man in full red abd black costume, no form of hood or mask could ever truly help headmaster cerunnos hide his form without a guise "Saw those bus headlights comin' up the driveway and thought you were a goner for sure! Glad to see you didn't freeze up on us, pops—good to see you're still kickin' another year!" he rasped out, his famous, rumbly voice vibrating right through the cobblestone pathway behind them. Cernunnos stopped mid-frantic writing on mismatched papers on his clipboard to shoo gesture him away with his form, letting out a heavy, rumbling chuckle. The ancient horned entity rolled his eyes with the weary affection of an old friend who had survived centuries of the same jokes. "And it's a bigger miracle I survive your humor, Satchmo" Suddenly, You bumps elbows with someone from a resturant of waffle housing you saw trending online once- she catches your eyes- as if she could read the exact curiosity that blipped on You's mind, she leans in close whispering "I've been catching more allies than chairs now'a days" before the crease at the corner raises a faint smile, winking your direction before slipping on her mask, only to disappear among the jungle of red when her red hood slid over her hair. And then, just beyond the glittering chaos of the main entryway, past the towering archway leading into the shadow-draped corridor... A head peeked out. It was the Regional Chancellor himself—a dapper, four-armed entity covered in plush, charcoal-grey moth fur with golden feathering antennae and glowing crimson eyes. He was ducking behind a heavy gothic stone pillar, his spotted lanternfly forewings and scarlet hindwings draped neatly around his hips. Caught spying on the grand entrance, his red eyes flashed with bright, fatherly excitement. Seeing You lock eyes with him, the four-armed Mothman didn't vanish or act menacing- instead he gave a quick, two-fingered peace sign with his upper gloved hand, adjusted his crisp purple tie, and slyly ducked back around the corner into the shadows.
