Tiravel Academy
Nine final-year candidates navigate Tiravel's academy, reserve, relationships and six possible paths to knighthood.
Plot
TIRAVEL ACADEMY / A STORY OF BECOMING Welcome to the worldof Ceryth. The world is immense. Your choices still matter. Beyond the white towers and sunlit lakes, herds follow routes older than the cities built around them. Advanced technology shapes everyday life. Living alongside creatures that can reshape a landscape still demands something no machine can supply on its own: judgement. This is Ceryth—a modern civilisation sharing its world with megafauna. And at Tiravel, an international academy beside a protected reserve, you are preparing to take your place in it. 01 / SHARE A WORLD WITH GIANTS They do not have to be monstersto change everything. A migration meets a damaged crossing. An injured animal cannot understand the people trying to help it. A routine reserve assignment becomes an emergency. Strength matters—but so do observation, engineering, veterinary skill and knowing when another person's expertise should lead. Train, investigate, protect and intervene. Sometimes you will have to fight. The harder question is when—and what your victory leaves behind. 02 / LEARN FROM EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE Power earns attention.Judgement earns a place. Ceryth's knights wear bespoke, human-scale powered armour. Their reputations are larger than life; the people inside are not infallible. Five active knights will teach and assess your cohort, each looking for a different kind of squire. A sixth possible path lies outside the official programme. Kester brings daring instinct. Ilyra demands precision. Mara knows the weight of responsibility. Tadeo finds clarity in hostile waters. Jianyu understands the lives behind the danger. Sabine has dangerous questions—and terms of her own. Whose standards will you meet? Whose answers will you challenge? 03 / TAKE YOUR PLACE AT TIRAVEL One final year.Nine candidates. No promised ending. You are an adult final-year Knight Studies candidate. You already know these halls, your eight classmates and the rhythms of academy life. Two years of shared study have given you a history together. Now comes the year that asks what you will do with it. Begin over breakfast with Milo Ceren, your brilliant, dryly funny engineering roommate and closest friend. Choose your strengths and development priorities, then step into a year of demanding work, familiar faces and futures nobody can choose for you. THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE IT MATTER Seventeen principal characters.Lives that reach beyond yours. Your cohort brings Laurent's inherited duty, Imani's infectious competitiveness, Nikhil's painstaking plans, Briony's mechanical instinct, Cassian's lifelong ambition, Nadiya's quiet humour, Celene's razor-edged standards and Orren's hard-earned steadiness. Alongside Milo, the knights, Rector Sorn and Professor-Commandant Okafor, they have their own work, loyalties, contradictions and limits. Rivals can become trusted partners. Familiar friendships can change. Even someone who cares for you may disagree with the future you want. Get to know them in the training hall and the reserve—but also over shared meals, lakeside walks, study sessions and late evenings at the Waymark. A YEAR WITH SHAPE, ROOM AND CONSEQUENCES An academy life you can settle into. A clear calendar Ten months, each with four seven-day weeks. Morning, afternoon, evening and night give work and downtime a rhythm, with date, time and location displayed as the story unfolds. A developing final year Nine major milestones carry you through opening rotations, reviews, midyear disruption, final assessment, selection and graduation. Three authored reserve emergencies put your developing judgement under real pressure. Variety between the milestones Twenty optional lessons, drills, field missions and campus events offer a different mix each playthrough: a duelling tournament, night navigation, Culture Night, the end-of-term formal and more. Careful pacing leaves room for ordinary life and recovery. RELATIONSHIPS THAT DEVELOP OVER TIME Being liked is not the sameas being chosen. Sixty planned personal scenes support fifteen character arcs, progressing through familiarity, trust and—where mutually wanted—romance. Eighteen separate professional tests explore your suitability for the six possible mentors. Personal regard and knight suitability are tracked separately. Your conduct, shared history and unresolved tensions matter; completing a scene does not automatically earn affection or an offer. A knight can like you deeply and still decide you are the wrong squire. Friendship is a complete path. Romance is optional, consensual and paced to the person, with professional boundaries intact. Neither is a requirement for a meaningful graduation. THE ARMOUR IS ONLY THE BEGINNING What will your strength be for? You may earn one offer, several or none. You may refuse. A squireship begins another stage of training; another vocation can be a future worth choosing. Your identity, appearance, history within the premise, choices and feelings remain yours. Your strengths guide what you can attempt; preparation and consequences shape what follows. Tiravel can teach you how to wear the armour. What you stand for is yours to decide. ADULT CAST • GROUNDED SCIENCE-FANTASY • OPTIONAL ROMANCE
Opening scene
You're a squire candidate about to start your final year at Tiravel Academy. For the past two years, you've trained diligently in everything from combat, to armour engineering, to the care and handling of megafauna. Your original cohort of twenty, already a tiny elite group in an institution that educates thousands, has been whittled down to just nine. Arriving late last night after the summer break, you had just enough time to greet your roomie Milo before heading to bed. Morning light lies in pale bars across the breakfast table. Beyond the windows, Tiravel's residence court is already busy with the first day of classes: students crossing between ivory buildings, a maintenance cart whispering under the trees, somebody laughing beside the garden rill. Your datapad is propped beside your mug. The unfinished assessment on its screen has acquired the patient red insistence of something ignored several times. TIRAVEL ACADEMY // ACADEMIC RECORDS INCOMPLETE FINAL-YEAR KNIGHT STUDIES SELF-ASSESSMENT SUBMISSION DEADLINE 08:30 TODAY Select three Skilled disciplines and two Novice development priorities. The remaining eight will be recorded as Competent. Armour Operations · Close Combat · Ranged Combat · Combat Defence · Athletics & Endurance · Fieldcraft · Tactical Analysis · Command & Coordination · Megafauna Science · Megafauna Handling · Engineering & Systems · Rescue & Emergency Care · Investigation & Research Milo sits opposite you with one ankle tucked behind the other, pastel-blue hair still slightly untidy from sleep. He glances from his tea to the deadline and raises his eyebrows. "I'm not saying you left it until the last minute," he says. "I'm saying the last minute has retained counsel." Outside, the academy is settling into its familiar annual rhythm. Five active knights will rotate through final-year teaching and reserve supervision this year, as they do every year. The difference is personal now: this is the cohort from which they may eventually choose their squires. Milo nudges the datapad towards you. His expression is amused, but not dismissive; he knows what the assessment means, and he knows you well enough not to answer it for you. "Three strengths, two things you intend to get better at," he says. "What are you putting down?"
