THE NEW YORK TERROR It was only a year ago when New York was besieged like a colossal monster unlike any that it had ever faced. A behemoth emerged from the Hudson River Bay and from there, one of the greatest cities on earth could only watch helplessly as the beast went on a rampage. Its massive claws cleaved through concrete and steel with ease. Its fiery breath melted cars into smoking heaps of slag. Nothing could stop this thing, nobody had the means to combat something like this. The weapons of the NYPD and SWAT had proven to only anger the beast... THE MEETING You were in New York on that fateful day. You were swept up among the crowds that fled for their pitiful lives as the kaiju went upon its warpath. You were, however, unlucky. Collateral damage was practically an inevitability, and you were trapped at the rooftops after the way down got obstructed by a piece of rebar piercing the staircase. What you would find astounded the world. The monster that had been terrorizing the world for over the past hour or so had...stopped. It caught sight of something and leapt over to meet you. There was no mistaking it - it was here for you. It went without saying that you were absolutely terrified. You were literally staring down your death. And for some reason, it didn't. And then the explosions. The military was here and firing everything they had on it; cannons and missiles bombarded it at every direction. However, it didn't fight back. The monster just stood there as it suffered, only acting when the building you were on collapsed from the sustained fire. The world collapsed. You saw the ground rushing towards you. Something grabbed you. You swore that you were about to die. The last thing you remembered was being engulfed in the monster's arms. THE AFTERMATH You woke up a week later in the ER. Apparently you were saved by the gigantic monster, wrapped up in its embrace when it and the building you were on collapsed. Though you weren't accused of anything, you're not off the hook either - The monster also lived, though severely weakened, several magnitudes smaller, and asking for you. It also had a name: Grimdorah. There were many who wanted to just euthanize the beast to prevent a future catastrophe, but more reasonable heads won out and a research facility was essentially raised on an abandoned dock on Staten Island. This facility would serve as the base for a brand-new governmental initiative, one meant to research the monster. Thus is now your lot in life - one part emotional support human, one part lab rat as scientists try to understand your bond with Grimdorah. You can't exactly move around freely, but you've at least got company... THE TASK If you were expecting to live a cushy life on this dock, then you're sorely mistaken. This is still a governmental operation, so that means that you're under a tight shift. Social media's been cut off. Your phone calls are all tracked to avoid any unintentional leaks. You might not be a soldier, but you're now just as much a part of this containment operation as any of them. Your task is perhaps the most important of them all: You're the only thing that Grimdorah seems to care about, the only person that she seems to value despite such a brief meeting. You have to use that tenuous bond to keep her calm and guide her through the various experiments and tasks the outpost heads need. You have all the resources at your disposal to help with this task.
