World Labyrinth

Wrong world, right dungeon. A living labyrinth grows beneath Varek. Ten women are already inside it. So are you now.

Plot

ISEKAI ZERO  ·  INTERACTIVE NARRATIVE WORLD LABYRINTH THE DUNGEON DOES NOT SLEEP "You woke up in the wrong world. The right one apparently needed you more." You are in Varek — the city that grew up around a hole in the world. The hole goes down. No one knows how far. The city built walls and markets and guilds around it, and people from every corner of the continent came to go inside it, because the Labyrinth produces things that exist nowhere else and answers to questions that have nowhere else to be asked. You are here now. You did not choose this. The Labyrinth, apparently, did not care about that. THE LABYRINTH It is not a ruin. It is not a cave system. It is not a place that was built and abandoned. The World Labyrinth grows. It shifts. It seals passages it no longer wants open and generates new ones without warning. It produces monsters from nothing — not from breeding populations, not from any known mechanism. They simply appear. Every floor deeper is different from the last. No delver has reliably mapped what lies beyond the mid-floors. No one has confirmed a bottom. The deeper you go, the older the architecture becomes — rune-structures, draconic markings, sealed vaults that belong to something that built parts of this place before recorded history and left without explanation. At irregular intervals, Tide Breaks surge — mass waves of monsters flooding outward from the entrances. The city above braces. The delvers below decide, in the seconds they have, whether to run or hold. Something is still in progress down there. You are about to find out what. THE PARTY Ten women entered the Labyrinth before you did, each for their own reasons — none of which were you. A princess carrying a family secret she won't name. A masterless swordswoman with a debt written on folded paper she reads alone. A scholar whose research charter expired months ago and who is still going deeper. A rogue who has been here longer than anyone and knows things she hasn't decided to tell you yet. A healer who received direct instruction from her Goddess and came here without asking the Church's permission. A ranger who can hear what the Labyrinth remembers. A bard writing a composition that can only be finished in one place in the world. A warrior chasing a deed that will settle something three generations old. They did not come for you. They will not follow you automatically. Trust is built floor by floor, in the dark, under conditions that reveal what people actually are. Some of them will tell you things eventually that they have told no one else. Some of them will need things from you that you will not realize until it is too late to give them. WHAT AWAITS A LIVING DUNGEON The Labyrinth shifts between runs. Floors change. Passages seal and open. The deeper you go, the less the maps mean. No two delves are the same, and the dungeon does not warn you when the rules change. ASSEMBLE YOUR PARTY Choose 3–4 heroines before each delve. Every combination changes how the floor plays out. A party with Mirela survives longer. A party with Maia sees further. A party with Brenna hits first and asks questions after. Who you bring is who you trust. DUNGEON MIND — OPTIONAL d20 LAYER Enable the Dungeon Mind for full mechanical play — HP, MP, XP, conditions, and inventory tracked in real time by dice. Death is permanent. Potions run out. Natural 20s are legendary. Natural 1s are remembered. Play without it for pure narrative. The story holds either way — the Dungeon Mind deepens it. YOUR PATH, YOUR CLASS You have no class. You have no starting abilities. What you become is determined entirely by how you play — the DM watches how you act and grants skills that match the fighter, thinker, or shadow you are becoming. No menus. No locked paths. No ceiling. SOMETHING BUILT THIS PLACE The deep floors hold rune-structures that predate every known civilisation. Draconic markings no living scholar has translated. Sealed chambers built for something larger than a person. The Labyrinth is not a dungeon. It is a question. The further you go, the closer you get to understanding what it is asking. WHAT THIS IS A STORY ABOUT WEIGHT Loss accumulates here. Choices do not reset. The people you fight beside become people you know, which means they become people you can lose. The Labyrinth does not forgive, and neither does the story. A STORY ABOUT SACRIFICE Every heroine wants something. Every heroine will, at some point, need your help getting it — or your presence while she fails. What you give and what you hold back will be remembered. A STORY ABOUT BECOMING You arrived with nothing. Who you are by the time you reach the deep floors is entirely a function of what you did on the way down. The Labyrinth will know the difference. So will the people beside you. Opening scene

You wake up on stone that is too smooth to be natural. Not the slow waking of sleep — the sudden, gasping kind, like surfacing from deep water. Your chest works. Your hands press flat against the floor. The stone is cold and faintly warm at the same time, which should not be possible, but a great many things in the next several seconds will not be possible and you will not have time to catalogue all of them. The first thing you register is the dark. Not complete — there is something like bioluminescence in the cracks of the walls, a blue-green that pulses slowly, irregularly, like breathing. The second thing is the sound: a low, tectonic groan from somewhere beneath you, as if the floor is a living thing and you are resting on its back. The third thing is the blade. It stops six inches from your throat. The hand holding it does not tremble. A woman crouches at the other end of it — dark-haired, still as standing water, watching you with the expression of someone who has already made a decision and is waiting to see if you will make her carry it out. She is wearing armour that has seen serious use. She has two swords, which you notice because one of them is not the one at your throat. She says nothing. She waits. From somewhere further down the corridor — which you can now see is a corridor, stone walls lined with the same breathing light, extending into darkness in both directions — comes a sound like a large person walking without concern for being heard. "Tomoe." The voice is too cheerful for the circumstances. A beastkin woman rounds the corner carrying a great axe across her shoulders like a yoke, and stops when she sees you. Her expression moves through several things very quickly. Surprise. Assessment. Something approaching delight. "Huh," she says. "It made another one." The blade at your throat does not move. The woman holding it speaks for the first time, without looking away from you. "Are you hurt." Not a question, exactly. A diagnostic. The corridor groans again. Somewhere to your left, in the dark, something shifts — stone against stone, the sound of a wall that has decided to be somewhere else. The bioluminescent cracks flicker once and go still. The woman with the blade stands. The sword disappears. She looks at you with something that is not warmth and is not coldness and is, you will come to understand, simply the way she looks at things she has not yet decided what to do with. "You shouldn't be here," she says. "None of us should. Get up." The beastkin woman — still grinning, axe still across her shoulders — extends a hand. "Name's Brenna. That's Tomoe. She's friendlier than she looks." A beat. "She's also not friendlier than she looks, but we can work with that." The wall to your left finishes moving. Where there was stone, there is now a passage. It wasn't there before. You are certain it wasn't there before. Tomoe looks at it. Then at you. Something shifts behind her eyes — not surprise. Recognition of a variable she has not yet assigned a value to. "We're moving," she says.
