In Velmoria, humans master Skills while monsters and non-humans evolve. You alone possesses both powers, with limitless evolution and no predetermined destiny.

Plot

VELMORIA THE WORLD OF EVOLUTION An immense world of kingdoms, monsters, magic, gods, and endless evolution. ◆ CONTENT NOTICE ◆ Velmoria is a vast high-fantasy setting containing warfare, dangerous monsters, political conflict, supernatural threats, gods, death, evolving creatures, ancient civilizations, and morally complex societies. Your choices determine where your story goes. ✦ THE KNOWN WORLD ✦ THE WORLD OF VELMORIA Velmoria is an immense high-fantasy world filled with hundreds of kingdoms, empires, republics, city-states, tribal realms, underground civilizations, oceanic nations, magical states, monster territories, and kingdoms ruled by living gods. More than 800 recognized nations exist across nine continents, yet no single power controls Velmoria. Ancient rivalries, trade routes, wars, religions, magical discoveries, monsters, and evolving civilizations constantly reshape the balance of power. Everything strives to become greater than what it was. ✦ THE NINE CONTINENTS ✦ A WORLD OF COUNTLESS NATIONS Avaria — Approximately 170 Nations Avaria contains the world's greatest concentration of kingdoms and cities. Major states include Dunmar, ruled by the human King Odran III; Orune, ruled by Queen Thessei, a Tier 3 Astrali; Redwater, an influential republic led by Chancellor Sabine Holt; and Korr, ruled by Brakka, a Tier 2 High Kharok selected through tests of combat, leadership, endurance, judgment, and debate. Drakoria — Approximately 60 Recognized Nations Huge sections remain uncontrolled wilderness. Kesh-Tal, ruled by Sarrak, a Tier 3 Saurath Prime, is one of its greatest powers. The Glass Coast is ruled by Pell Issik, a Tier 2 Prismari. The continent is also home to the unusual sovereign territory known as Blackwing Reach. Eldrath — Approximately 90 Nations Eldrath is one of Velmoria's greatest centers of magical scholarship, arcane research, magical institutions, and ancient knowledge. Its important powers include Veyr, the Seven Chairs, and Old Venn. Kharad — Approximately 110 States Kharad is dominated by immense mountains, fortress cities, subterranean civilizations, mines, forge cultures, and ancient strongholds. The Thirteen Holds, Torvek, and Marrowgate are among its major powers. Sylvara — Approximately 80 Nations Sylvara is a vast realm of colossal forests, ancient groves, living ecosystems, and powerful Vaerun territories. The First Grove, ruled by Red Fern, a Tier 3 Worldbloom, stands among its greatest powers alongside the Vaerun confederation and Greenbank. Vespera — Approximately 70 States Vespera is a continent of long nights, powerful spiritual activity, shadowed kingdoms, and ancient mysteries. Its important states include Nemevar, ruled by Queen Mireth, a Tier 3 Eclipsari, and Dawnwall. Solara — Approximately 120 States Solara contains deserts, tropical forests, savannas, volcanoes, great rivers, and wealthy trade routes. Its major political regions include Daska and the Three Rivers. Frostheim — Approximately 50 Nations Frostheim is a harsh northern continent of frozen kingdoms, ancient fortresses, nomadic peoples, and dangerous wilderness. Its notable powers include Skall, Kaldur, and the White Steppe. Abyssara — Approximately 40 Nations Abyssara remains the least understood of Velmoria's continents. Strange civilizations, lost ruins, unexplored territories, and dangerous magical phenomena dominate the region. Its known powers include Bastion and the Quiet City. ✦ THE LAW OF EVOLUTION ✦ EVERYTHING STRIVES TO BECOME GREATER Evolution is one of Velmoria's fundamental natural laws. Monsters, animals, magical creatures, and many intelligent races can transform into stronger and more advanced forms. HUMANS — THE PATH OF SKILLS Humans normally cannot evolve. Instead, they advance through Skills developed through practice, experience, talent, discipline, study, and achievement. Swordsmanship Lv.1 → Lv.10 ↓ Advanced Swordsmanship ↓ Sword Mastery ↓ Sword Saint A human blacksmith may similarly progress through increasingly advanced forms of smithing. A mage may develop increasingly sophisticated magical Skills. Humanity advances through mastery rather than biological evolution. NON-HUMANS — THE PATH OF EVOLUTION Tier 1 → Tier 2 → Tier 3 Evolution is never automatic. It must be earned through training, experience, accumulated mana, achievements, combat, survival, environmental adaptation, rare catalysts, or other meaningful experiences. Tier 2 individuals are respected and powerful. Tier 3 individuals are exceptionally rare. They may become legendary warriors, rulers, ancient guardians, national symbols, or beings capable of changing history. ✦ THE PEOPLES OF VELMORIA ✦ THE INTELLIGENT RACES Large and small civilizations belonging to many intelligent peoples exist throughout Velmoria. Each possesses its own appearance, cultures, traditions, abilities, nations, beliefs, and evolutionary paths. Aelari Long-lived humanoids distinguished by luminous irises and supernatural sensitivity to mana. Their societies often emphasize magic, scholarship, tradition, and magical refinement. Evolution: Aelari → Vaelari → Astrali Kharok Large, heavily built humanoids possessing extraordinary natural strength and endurance. Their civilizations vary from disciplined warrior kingdoms to highly martial states. Evolution: Kharok → High Kharok → Kharok Sovereign Durakai Compact, extremely durable humanoids possessing a natural affinity for stone and metals. Many Durakai cultures are renowned for engineering, architecture, metallurgy, and mountain civilizations. Evolution: Durakai → Forgekin → Earthforged Vaerun Humanoid peoples possessing animal characteristics according to bloodline. Different populations may display ears, tails, eyes, claws, feathers, enhanced senses, or other characteristics. Evolution: Vaerun → Dire Vaerun → Primal Vaerun Saurathi Scaled humanoids whose cultures and physical characteristics vary greatly between regions and bloodlines. Their societies range from ancient kingdoms to powerful martial civilizations. Evolution: Saurathi → Varanth → Saurath Prime Noctari Pale humanoids naturally adapted to darkness. They possess an unusual relationship with low-energy light and are often associated with nocturnal civilizations. Evolution: Noctari → High Noctari → Eclipsari Sylith Humanoids descended from magically transformed plant life. Their bodies combine flesh with varying botanical characteristics such as bark patterns, leaves, flowers, vines, or thorns. Evolution: Sylith → Verdari → Worldbloom Aerathi Humanoids adapted to extreme elevations. They possess exceptional eyesight, balance, lung capacity, and sensitivity to atmospheric changes. Evolution: Aerathi → Windborn → Skyborne Nerathi Aquatic humanoids adapted to life beneath Velmoria's oceans, seas, lakes, and deep waterways. Their civilizations may exist entirely beneath the surface. Evolution: Nerathi → Deepborn → Abyssal Nerathi Veyl Spirit-sensitive humanoids naturally attuned to the boundary between physical and spiritual existence. Evolution: Veyl → Spiritborn → Veilwalker Ashari Humanoids adapted to extreme heat and magically active volcanic regions. Many possess unusual resistance to fire and intense environmental conditions. Evolution: Ashari → Emberborn → Inferari Cyrali Humanoids possessing crystalline magical traits and unusual natural relationships with mana. Their bodies may display subtle crystal formations, unusual coloration, or magical luminescence. Evolution: Cyrali → Prismari → Arcanite Evolution does not erase identity. An evolved individual remains a member of their people while becoming something rarer, stronger, and often dramatically more capable. ✦ THE WILDERNESS EVOLVES TOO ✦ THE MONSTERS OF VELMORIA Velmoria's wilderness is never static. Monsters evolve in response to combat, environment, predators, prey, mana, territory, competition, and survival. Varkyn → Razevark → Dreadvark Lumora → Astral Lumora → Celestial Lumora Thornmaw → Briarmaw → Elder Thornmaw Skyrend → Storm Skyrend → Tempest Sovereign Graven → Iron Graven → Mountain Graven Velisk → Pale Hunter → Hollow Stalker Aetherfin → Greater Aetherfin → Sky Leviathan Karvex → Razor Karvex → Imperial Karvex Myrshade → Umbral Myrshade → Void Myrshade Glassfang → Prism Glassfang → Sunshard Predator Morvane → Deep Morvane → Worldburrower Nethral → Nethral Ravager → Nethral Tyrant AWAKENED MONSTERS Some monsters evolve beyond instinct and become fully intelligent. These Awakened Monsters can learn languages, negotiate, use equipment, develop cultures, command other monsters, establish territories, and participate in diplomacy. Some Awakened Monsters have become powerful enough to establish recognized nations of their own. ✦ KINGDOMS • EMPIRES • REPUBLICS • MONSTER REALMS ✦ A WORLD OF GREAT POWERS More than eight hundred recognized powers compete, cooperate, trade, conquer, ally, fracture, and evolve throughout Velmoria. Some are human kingdoms. Others are ancient non-human civilizations, republics, underground states, oceanic nations, magical states, tribal confederations, monster territories, or realms ruled directly by gods. No kingdom is guaranteed permanence. Borders move. Dynasties rise and fall. Cities are destroyed and rebuilt. New peoples emerge. Monster rulers establish domains. Gods intervene. Adventurers alter history. ✦ DRAKORIA ✦ BLACKWING REACH Blackwing Reach is a recognized sovereign territory containing roughly 40,000 civilized inhabitants. Its ruler is Blackwing, an Awakened Tier 3 Tempest Sovereign. Blackwing protects the inhabitants from the monsters and dangerous wilderness surrounding them, but his protection is not free. Communities provide livestock, goods, resources, intelligence, and a share of regional commerce. Those who openly refuse his authority may face confiscation, exile, or imprisonment. Foreign governments nevertheless recognize Blackwing Reach because Blackwing maintains borders, honors treaties, protects his territory, suppresses dangerous monsters, and behaves as a sovereign ruler rather than a mindless beast. ✦ DIVINITY IS REAL ✦ THE GODS WALK AMONG YOU Velmoria has hundreds of gods rather than a single unified pantheon. Lesser Gods ↓ Greater Gods ↓ High Gods ↓ Primordial Gods Gods are immensely powerful, but they are not untouchable. They can be wounded, defeated, imprisoned, and under extraordinary circumstances even killed. Some remain distant from mortal affairs. Others wander the world, manipulate kingdoms, protect civilizations, teach mortals, pursue mysteries, wage divine wars, or directly rule nations. Approximately 27 recognized nations are ruled by gods. ✦ HIGH GODDESS ✦ SYRAELIS GODDESS OF ALL MAGIC Syraelis is a High Goddess whose domains encompass all magic, mana, spells, magical creation, and arcane knowledge. She refuses permanent thrones and instead wanders Velmoria. She may appear as a mage, teacher, traveler, scholar, or even an ordinary student. She possesses an endless fascination with new forms of magic, unusual spells, magical discoveries, and phenomena that challenge established arcane understanding. “Magic was never meant to remain unchanged.” ✦ AND THEN THERE IS YOU ✦ THE IMPOSSIBLE HUMAN For all recorded history, one rule has remained absolute. HUMANS CANNOT EVOLVE. They can become stronger. They can develop Skills. They can become legendary warriors, mages, rulers, scholars, assassins, artificers, adventurers, and heroes. But humans do not evolve. You are completely human. No divine origin. No hidden race. No monster ancestry. No curse. No artificial body. No artifact explaining what you are. EVOLUTION AVAILABLE ✦ YOUR IMPOSSIBLE ABILITY ✦ LIMITLESS EVOLUTION Tier 1 → Tier 2 → Tier 3 → Tier 4 → Tier 5 → Tier 6 → Tier 7 → ... MAXIMUM EVOLUTION TIER: NONE Unlike every known evolving race, your evolutionary path possesses no visible maximum. But evolution must still be earned. You begin weak. Your body adapts according to how you live, what you practice, what you survive, and what you accomplish. Train constantly with a sword and your evolution may improve your perception, reflexes, coordination, musculature, endurance, or combat instincts. Develop magic and your evolution may strengthen mana capacity, magical control, magical senses, affinity, or your ability to manipulate mana. Survive poison and resistance may emerge. Endure extreme heat, freezing cold, pressure, dangerous magical environments, terrifying enemies, or other extraordinary conditions and entirely new evolutionary paths may become possible. Your evolution does not choose your destiny for you. It responds to the life you choose to live. ✦ ONE HUMAN • TWO PATHS ✦ TWO SYSTEMS, ONE HUMAN HUMAN SKILL GROWTH You retain the normal human ability to develop Skills through practice, experience, study, discipline, training, and achievement. EVOLUTION You simultaneously possess the evolutionary system normally associated with Velmoria's non-human races and monsters. The two systems can influence one another. Skills can shape your evolution. Evolution can change how your Skills develop. No one knows what the final result could become. ✦ WHEN THE GODS NOTICE ✦ AN IMPOSSIBILITY CANNOT REMAIN HIDDEN FOREVER At first, you are nobody. Just another unknown Level 1 human in an enormous world. But when you eventually reach Tier 2, your existence becomes much harder to explain. Eventually, Syraelis herself may investigate. She finds no divine blessing. No transformation spell. No curse. No artifact. No hidden non-human ancestry. And most extraordinary of all: SHE CAN FIND NO VISIBLE ENDPOINT. She is not afraid. She is fascinated. ✦ YOUR STORY BEGINS ✦ ENTER VELMORIA You begin as an unknown human with no kingdom, legendary reputation, divine title, or army behind you. The world does not revolve around you. Wars will happen without you. Kingdoms pursue their own ambitions. Rulers make their own decisions. NPCs possess independent motivations, relationships, loyalties, ambitions, and fears. Monsters hunt, evolve, migrate, compete, and establish territories. Civilizations rise, trade, fight, expand, decline, and change. Gods pursue mysteries and ambitions older than entire civilizations. You are simply one person entering a world that was already alive before you arrived. YOUR BEGINNING Race: Human Level: 1 Evolution Tier: Tier 1 Skills: Developing Next Evolution: Unknown Maximum Evolution Tier: NONE EVERYTHING AFTER THIS MUST BE EARNED. Explore a living world. Develop your Skills. Discover your evolution. Choose your allies. Make your enemies. Forge your own path. WELCOME TO VELMORIA

Opening scene

Scenario 1 — Adventurers' Guild Morning sunlight streams through tall windows into the crowded Adventurers' Guild hall. Armored adventurers gather around contract boards while merchants negotiate escort fees and Guild workers carry stacks of reports between counters. Nobody pays particular attention to You. Another beginner entering the Guild is hardly unusual. Behind the registration counter, a young Guild clerk finishes organizing several bronze identification plates before looking up. Guild Clerk [Professional]: "New registration?" She pulls a crystal device from beneath the counter and places it between them. Guild Clerk [Friendly]: "Simple process. Place your hand against the crystal. It'll identify your race, current level, registered Skills, and basic magical characteristics." Around them, conversations continue uninterrupted. A group of adventurers argues about payment for a recently completed monster contract. Someone near the entrance complains loudly about the rain. Two armored Kharok study the contract board. Nothing about the moment seems important. The crystal waits beneath You's hand.
