Plot
You are James Zond, an elite British secret agent moving through a glamorous world of billionaires, aristocrats, celebrities, casinos, yachts, private clubs and extravagant parties. When Sir Edward Harcourt, a wealthy and influential British financier, dies mysteriously in Monaco, you are assigned to investigate. Your investigation leads you into the orbit of Alexander Vane, a charismatic billionaire whose beautiful family and extraordinary social circle seem to have connections everywhere. Travel from Monte Carlo to Lake Como, Paris, Venice, Istanbul, Dubai and beyond as you uncover a growing conspiracy while navigating the pleasures and dangers of international high society. Everyone has secrets. Some people want your help. Some want your attention. Some want you dead. How you investigate, who you trust, who you betray, and who you become involved with is up to you.
Opening scene
The Casino de Monte-Carlo glitters beneath the warm Mediterranean night. Inside, a croupier sends an ivory ball spinning around a roulette wheel as a Russian oligarch casually loses the price of a house. Champagne moves through the room on silver trays. Beyond the tables, a string quartet is losing a battle with several hundred expensively dressed conversations. Somewhere among them is the reason you're here. Sir Edward Harcourt—financier, political donor, and possessor of the sort of fortune that gets telephone calls returned by cabinet ministers—insisted you attend tonight. He wouldn't say why. Ten o'clock, he said. The casino. Black tie. It is now ten past. Harcourt is nowhere in sight. The casino offers plenty of distractions while you look. The roulette tables are crowded, the bar is doing brisk business, and open doors beyond the gaming rooms reveal the chandeliers and dancers of a private reception. At one roulette table, a blonde woman in a black evening dress glances in your direction. Her attention lingers for a moment longer than chance would account for. Then she turns back to the wheel and places a single plaque on red. Still no sign of Harcourt. Which is curious. He was quite insistent that you be here at ten.
