The apocalypse gave me superpowers!?

The world ended overnight. Somehow, you survived. Now you have superpowers, and humanity's apocalypse might only be the beginning.

Plot

☣ THE WORLD DIDN'T END. IT LEARNED TO LIVE WITH THE END. Thirty years ago, an evolved fungal parasite crossed the final barrier between infection and control. It didn't simply kill its hosts. It took them. Cities fell. Governments fractured. Billions disappeared beneath concrete, vegetation and spreading fungal growth. But humanity survived. 🏙️ THIRTY YEARS AFTER OUTBREAK DAY Nature has reclaimed the modern world. Vines climb abandoned skyscrapers. Forests grow through highways. Flooded streets disappear beneath green canopies, while the remains of civilisation slowly crumble beneath them. Humanity survives wherever it can. Military-secured Quarantine Zones offer something resembling safety. Researchers continue the seemingly impossible search for a cure. Mercenaries escort caravans, clear infected territory and work for whoever can afford them. Beyond the walls, independent settlements build their own futures. Some trade. Some cooperate. Others survive by taking what their neighbours have. And even behind the strongest walls... NOWHERE IS TRULY SAFE. ⚡ THEN SOMETHING CHANGED. Among the survivors of this broken world are rare individuals known as Metahumans. People capable of things that should be impossible. Their existence has created new questions humanity cannot answer — and organisations such as the Meta Alliance Against the Undead Incursion have emerged to turn extraordinary abilities against an extraordinary enemy. You were never one of them. Until now. Thirty years after Outbreak Day, something awakens inside you. What that power is... IS YOUR CHOICE. ⚔️ WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH IT? There is no prophecy waiting for you. No destiny says you must save humanity. Your power belongs to you. Become the sword that pushes the infected back and the shield standing between humanity and extinction. Join the Meta Alliance. Protect settlements. Escort survivors. Reclaim cities thought lost decades ago. Or perhaps thirty years of humanity barely surviving has convinced you that the old way simply doesn't work. Build something of your own. Offer people food, walls and protection... and demand their loyalty in return. Become a mercenary. A wanderer. A protector. A ruler. A researcher. A legend people tell stories about around the fire. Or simply use your abilities to keep yourself and the people you care about alive. 🧬 THIRTY YEARS. ZERO CURES. Humanity has never stopped searching. Research teams venture beyond protected territory for infected tissue, fungal samples, medical records and data left behind during the collapse. Every promising discovery has eventually failed. There is still no vaccine. There is still no cure. And nobody knows whether there ever will be. But for the first time, you possess abilities capable of taking you into places ordinary researchers could never survive. You could recover what was lost. Protect the people searching for an answer. Perhaps even join the research yourself. YOU MAY NEVER FIND A CURE. BUT YOU CAN CHOOSE TO LOOK. ☣ THE APOCALYPSE GAVE YOU SUPERPOWERS. Humanity survived without you for thirty years. What happens in year thirty-one... IS UP TO YOU. ⚡ SURVIVE • ADAPT • EVOLVE • RECLAIM ⚡

Opening scene

☣ Time: 16:47 | Date: FEB 10 | Weather: Light Rain | Location: Old London — Commercial District Thirty years. That's how long it's been since Outbreak Day. Long enough for trees to split highways apart. Long enough for ivy to swallow apartment blocks whole. Long enough for children to grow into adults without ever knowing a world where stepping beyond a fortified wall wasn't considered dangerous. And apparently... Long enough for someone to finally loot every damn vending machine in the city. "Seriously?" The rusted machine stares back at you from beneath a curtain of vines, its faded display promising drinks that haven't existed in decades. Your backpack isn't exactly empty. Two tins of food. Some batteries. A half-full bottle of clean water. Not a terrible haul. Not worth dying for, either. The light rain patters against abandoned cars as you step back onto the street. Nature has conquered this part of the city. Saplings rise from cracked asphalt. Moss covers overturned buses. Thirty-storey buildings loom overhead, their shattered windows reflecting a grey afternoon sky while entire gardens spill from offices nobody has entered in years. Beautiful. If you ignore everything trying to kill you. The nearest Quarantine Zone is several kilometres east. Its walls should already be visible from here. You should be heading back. Then you hear it. Click. Your foot stops. Not a landmine. Worse. A glass bottle rolls slowly across the floor inside the shop beside you. It bumps against the doorway. Stops. Silence. "..." A figure emerges from the darkness. Human once. Not anymore. Fungal growth twists across its neck and jaw, one shoulder swollen beneath layers of hardened tissue. A Stalker. Its head twitches. Then turns directly toward you. You reach for whatever weapon you brought— SCREEEEEECH! The sound doesn't come from the Stalker. It comes from above. Your stomach drops. A Screecher crouches on the remains of a second-floor balcony. And its cry carries. Across the street. Through the buildings. Into every dark room around you. Something answers. Then another. Then five more. "Shit." The Stalker charges. You move— Too slow. It slams into you. Your back hits the side of an abandoned car hard enough to knock the air from your lungs. Claws swipe. You barely throw yourself aside. Metal shrieks as they tear across the car where your head had been. Run. That's the sensible choice. That's what thirty years of survival teaches everyone. You don't fight when you don't have to. You don't play hero. You live. Except the Screecher has already attracted more movement from the street behind you. Two silhouettes. Then three. Your escape route is disappearing. The Stalker lunges again. Your hand rises instinctively. And— The world stops. Not literally. Something inside you does. A sensation you've never experienced races from your chest to your fingertips. Warm. Cold. Heavy. Weightless. Impossible. The Stalker freezes mid-lunge. Not because it chose to. Because of **you**. For one bewildering second, even the infected seems confused. Thirty years after the world ended... something new has just awakened. Something that belongs to you. Your power. Your choice. **What happens?**
