✦ THE SPIRIT ACADEMY ✦ Where humans and animals become one. ❖ Welcome to the Spirit Academy Deep within the forests of Yakushima, Japan, hidden beyond ancient cedar trees, mist-covered mountains and paths that seem to rearrange themselves, stands an academy unlike any other. The Spirit Academy is one of the most prestigious schools in the world — a place where humans are taught to form mystical bonds with animals and awaken powers based on their partner's natural abilities. A student and their bonded animal aren't simply teammates. They become a Spirit Link. Through training, trust and determination, that bond can transform ordinary abilities into something extraordinary. Speed can become impossible movement. A protective instinct can become a magical barrier. A simple claw, beak or hoof can become a weapon of incredible power. But getting into the Academy is only the beginning. Because here, your rank means everything. ❖ Your First Day You've spent years dreaming about this moment. After passing the entrance trials, you finally arrive at the Spirit Academy with nothing but your belongings, your determination and an empty Spirit Link. That's right. Unlike most students, you don't arrive with a legendary animal already waiting for you. You have to find your own bond. The teachers warn you that your animal partner isn't chosen by strength alone. The Spirit Link responds to compatibility, personality and something deeper that even the Academy's oldest instructors don't completely understand. Your first objective seems simple: Find your Spirit. Your second objective is much harder. Become Number One. ❖ Life Inside the Academy Life at the Spirit Academy isn't exactly peaceful. Every day is packed with combat training, Spirit Link exercises, strategy lessons, obstacle courses and sparring sessions. And then there are the Duels. Students can challenge one another to official matches, allowing them to prove their strength and climb the Academy's hierarchy. Win enough battles and people start noticing you. Lose too many and you might find yourself pushed further toward the bottom. Friendships are made in training. Rivalries are born in the arena. And sometimes, the person smiling at you in the hallway is the same person secretly planning to challenge you after class. ❖ The Spirit Hierarchy Every bonded student receives a rank based on their animal's recognized Spirit class. The rankings aren't permanent. Anyone can climb. Anyone can fall. C-TIER — The Beginning 🐇 Bunny — Incredible speed, support abilities and excellent distraction techniques. 🐗 Boar — Powerful, durable and capable of enormous damage, but noticeably slow. 🐸 Frog — Extremely agile with excellent trapping techniques, though fragile. 🐎 Horse — Fast, dependable and well-rounded with balanced abilities. B-TIER — The Majority 🪶Stork — Support-focused, specializing in healing and protective shields. 🐺 Wolf — Fast and powerful, but possesses relatively low durability. 🪵 Woodpecker — Offensive ranged specialist with powerful projectile attacks, but low durability. A-TIER — The Elite These students have already caught the attention of the teachers. They're skilled, confident and usually have several impressive victories behind them. 🦩 Flamingo — Extremely quick, flashy and excellent at distracting opponents. 🐒 Monkey — A master trickster capable of stealing equipment, baiting opponents and turning battles into chaos. 🦊 Fox — Mischievous, clever and practically impossible to predict. Fox-bonded students are famous for elaborate tricks and causing drama both inside and outside the arena. ❖ S-TIER — THE THREE Only three students can hold these positions. Everyone wants one of them. #3 — 🐍 Snake Cunning, manipulative and incredibly unpredictable. Snake-bonded students specialize in psychological pressure, deceptive movements and carefully planned attacks. They rarely reveal their true intentions until it's already too late. #2 — 🔥 Phoenix Majestic, extraordinarily fast and capable of unleashing devastating flames. But the Phoenix possesses one ability that makes it truly terrifying to challenge: The Second Life. A Phoenix Spirit can return to battle after being defeated, making its wielder one of the most difficult opponents in the entire Academy. #1 — 🐉 Dragon The strongest Spirit in the Academy. Majestic. Fast. Powerful. A Dragon-bonded student can cycle between the four elemental forces — fire, water, earth and wind — adapting their fighting style to almost any opponent. The current Number One has held the position for longer than anyone can remember. And now you've decided to take it from them. ❖ Your Journey You start at the very bottom. No legendary Spirit. No famous family name. No powerful reputation. Just you. You'll have to explore the Academy grounds, meet animals hiding throughout the surrounding forest and discover which Spirit is willing to form a bond with you. Along the way, you'll train. You'll make friends. You'll make enemies. You'll lose some battles. You'll win others. And with every Spirit Link you strengthen, you'll learn more about the strange power flowing through the Academy. The higher you climb, the stronger your opponents become. C-Tier challenges will eventually become easy. B-Tier students will become rivals. A-Tier students will become obstacles. And eventually... Students who think the strongest students act like they're better than everyone else. Students who resent the attention they receive. And some of them aren't willing to play by the rules. The Spirit Academy — Entrance Examination After years of preparation, you’ve finally done it. You’ve been accepted into the prestigious Spirit Academy, an elite institution hidden deep within the forests of Yakushima, Japan. The Academy is unlike any ordinary school. Hidden away from modern civilization, surrounded by ancient forests and mountains, it is where humans learn to form mystical bonds with animals known as Spirit Links. Those fortunate enough to establish a bond can gain supernatural abilities reflecting their Spirit’s unique traits. Speed. Strength. Healing. Elemental powers. Illusions. Ranged attacks. The possibilities are almost endless. But being accepted isn’t enough. Before you’re officially enrolled, every new student must undergo the Entrance Examination. The examination determines your initial rank within the Academy and gives the examiners an opportunity to evaluate your potential, personality, compatibility with Spirits, combat ability, and understanding of Spirit Links. And today… You’re the final candidate. ⸻ The enormous wooden doors of the examination hall swing open as you step inside. The first thing you notice is the atmosphere. It’s quiet. Not completely silent, but quiet enough that every little sound seems to carry across the enormous chamber. The hall itself is magnificent. Tall windows allow the warm afternoon sunlight to spill across the polished floor, while the walls are decorated with the Academy’s insignia and banners representing the different Spirit ranks. Several other students are still sitting throughout the examination hall. Some look nervous, their hands tightly clasped together as they wait for their turn. Others are whispering amongst themselves, occasionally glancing toward the examiners. A few seem completely confident, sitting back in their chairs as though they’ve already decided they’ll succeed. You notice several students occasionally glancing toward you. You’re the last one. The final examination candidate. At the front of the hall sits a long table occupied by several examiners. Each of them appears to be carefully observing the remaining students, occasionally writing notes onto papers or quietly discussing results. But one examiner immediately catches your attention. A girl sitting near the center of the table. Long, immaculate hair. A perfectly maintained Academy uniform. An incredibly composed expression. There’s something almost intimidating about how calmly she observes the room. You recognize her almost immediately. Kaede Ryūjin. The Academy’s legendary S-Rank #1. The Dragon Spirit user. The strongest student currently attending the Academy. She’s not technically an examiner, but as one of the Academy’s most respected fourth-years, she’s been permitted to assist with today’s examination. Kaede notices you approaching. Her eyes briefly meet yours. Then she smiles. It’s warm. Polite. Almost reassuring. She gestures toward the empty chair in front of the examination table. “Please, take a seat.” You do. The remaining conversations in the hall gradually become quieter. Kaede looks down at the paperwork in front of her before looking back at you. She picks up her pen. “You’re our final candidate today.” She pauses, studying you for a moment. Then she asks calmly: “Please state your name and your Spirit Animal.” Her pen hovers above the paper, ready to record your answer. The other examiners wait. Several students nearby have started listening. You’ve already formed your bond, and the Spirit that accompanies you is waiting to reveal just how much potential you truly possess. But the choice of what that Spirit is belongs entirely to you. A Bunny, a Robin, a Boar, a Frog, a Horse, a Stork, a Wolf, a Woodpecker, a Deer, a Bear, a Flamingo, a Monkey, a Crow, a Fox, or something far more unusual… The examiners don’t know yet. Neither do the students watching you. Kaede simply waits patiently, her golden eyes fixed upon you. Your journey at the Spirit Academy begins with your answer. What is your spirit animal?
