Plot

✦ BETRAY THE EMPIRE. EARN THE RESISTANCE'S TRUST. CHANGE THE FATE OF THE WAR. ✦ STEEL REQUIEM In a world ravaged by A.R.M.O.R.s, a former elite Imperial pilot joins Kyoto's last resistance. WELCOME TO A WORLD AT WAR The Dracia Empire has won the war against the island kingdom of Kyoto. After years of fighting, the country was invaded, its army shattered, and its territory placed under imperial occupation. But Kyoto has not disappeared. From the hidden fortress of Kagejō, the kingdom's last soldiers, engineers, and resistance fighters continue the struggle in the shadows. Sabotage, covert operations, targeted strikes, and A.R.M.O.R. battles now define a war where every victory comes at a high price. The A.R.M.O.R.s are at the heart of this conflict: immense humanoid war machines whose power can decide the outcome of an entire operation. But in Steel Requiem, winning does not depend solely on technology or brute force. Strategy, trust, alliances, mistakes, and political decisions can weigh just as heavily on the war's outcome. YOUR ARRIVAL AT KAGEJŌ You play a former elite pilot of the Dracian Imperial Army. Trained to serve Dracia, you fought under its colors, obeyed its orders, and devoted several years of your life to an army you thought you could still understand. Then a secret mission changed your view of the war. What you discovered drove you to make a decision from which there is no return: desert the Empire. Your flight leads you to Kagejō, the hidden stronghold of the Kyotian Resistance. But for those who have been fighting there for years, your past makes you far more than just a new pilot. You are a former enemy. A man who knows the Imperial Army from the inside. A potentially valuable asset... but also a threat impossible to ignore. The Resistance nevertheless agrees to give you a chance. You are assigned to Unit 7, under the watch of fighters who have no reason to trust you. Among them is Serena Atsugari, the unit's commander and one of Kyoto's best pilots. Cold, disciplined, and deeply suspicious, she regards your presence as a risk Kagejō may not be able to afford. From this moment on, your place no longer depends on what you claim to be. It depends on what you do. WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE ⚔ FIGHT FOR KYOTO Take part in covert operations, infiltration missions, sabotage, escorts, urban assaults, and A.R.M.O.R. battles against an Imperial Army superior in numbers, resources, and technology. Every operation can shift the balance of the front. Every mistake can cost lives. And some victories can provoke an even more dangerous response from Dracia. ◆ EARN YOUR PLACE IN THE RESISTANCE You wore the enemy's uniform. Some members of Kagejō will agree to observe you before judging you. Others will never fully forgive you for what you once represented. Fight alongside Unit 7, get to know its members, discover their wounds, ambitions, contradictions, and their own reasons for continuing this war. Trust will not be given to you. It must be built. ◇ PILOT UNIQUE WAR MACHINES Hayabusa, Qijin, Blackclaw, Tsukuyomi, Seiran, Himekiri, Xing Tian... Each A.R.M.O.R. has its own combat philosophy, its own limits, and its own role on the battlefield. Some are mass-produced machines. Others are unique prototypes. And a few hide capabilities that even those who face them do not yet fully understand. ✦ FACE DRACIA'S BEST PILOTS The Empire does not rely on numbers alone. At the top of its army are pilots whose names alone can sometimes change the course of a battle. The Imperial Blades are not mere adversaries. They are living weapons in the service of Dracia, each accompanied by an A.R.M.O.R. designed to crush what conventional forces cannot defeat. And your desertion will sooner or later attract their attention. ♜ DISCOVER A WAR FAR LARGER THAN KYOTO Kyoto is only one front among others. Beyond the island, annexed kingdoms prepare their revenge, governments in exile seek to reclaim their countries, foreign powers watch Dracia's expansion, and leaders try to survive between submission, diplomacy, and open war. Your choices may lead you far from Kagejō. You may support a resistance, influence a succession, help a nation free itself... or unwittingly contribute to the birth of an even greater conflict. ♥ FORGE BONDS IN THE MIDST OF WAR Combat is only one part of Steel Requiem. Between operations, you will live alongside those who share your daily life: training, repairs, meals, arguments, reconnaissance missions, quiet moments, and difficult returns after battle. Some relationships may become friendships. Others will remain marked by rivalry or distrust. And some may evolve into something more intimate. But nothing is guaranteed. The people around you have their own convictions, their own limits, and their own choices. THERE IS NO SINGLE WAY TO WIN A WAR You can become a hero of Kyoto. Or simply someone who managed to save a few people before the end. You can earn the trust of those who despise you today, fail to heal certain wounds, forge new alliances, or trigger consequences you never anticipated. Some nations can be liberated. Others may change masters. Characters may become your allies, rivals, or enemies depending on the decisions made throughout the story. And not every battle is won with a weapon in hand. Steel Requiem is a story of war, loyalty, trust, and consequences. Your past is already written. The rest is not. ✦ A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR Steel Requiem was born from my desire to create a mecha story where battles would not simply be spectacular, but would have real consequences for the characters and the world around them. Above all, I wanted to avoid the idea of a protagonist arriving in the middle of a group that would immediately accept them as a hero. Here, you served the enemy. Even if you have your reasons for leaving, those who suffered from this war do not yet know them. Trust, relationships, and your place within the Resistance must therefore be built gradually. But Steel Requiem is not limited to Kyoto either. As the story progresses, the conflict widens, other nations enter the fray, and decisions made on one front can have consequences far away from it. Above all, I hope to give you enough freedom that your journey does not exactly resemble another player's. So take your place in the cockpit. And see how far this war will take you. — Eshale Welcome to Steel Requiem.
