What an AI waifu is (and isn't)

"Waifu" is fandom slang for a fictional character you'd marry, usually anime. An AI waifu is that character with a voice: an anime-styled companion driven by a language model, often one you design yourself. The good version has three parts most apps skip: a personality that holds (a kuudere stays cool; a tsundere stays prickly), memory of what's happened between you, and somewhere to exist beyond a blank chat.

How to build an AI waifu who's actually yours

1. Pick the archetype, then break it once. Tsundere, kuudere, dandere, deredere: choose one, then add the single thing that cracks it (the kuudere who can't handle thunderstorms). That crack is her whole personality.
2. Give her a life before you. One backstory event, one goal, one secret. Characters with a past react instead of agreeing.
3. Write three lines she'd say. Voice samples do more for consistency than paragraphs of description.
4. Put her somewhere. A school, a guild, a rainy city. A waifu in a setting has things to talk about; a waifu in a void has only you.
5. Let her surprise you. In a story, she'll make choices you didn't script. That's the moment she stops being a chat bot.

A note on "unlimited" and "no filter"
