Games Like Everweave (2026): 7 AI DnD & Roleplay Alternatives, Free and Paid

Stories you can play right now

You searched "games like Everweave" for one of two reasons: you love the AI Dungeon Master idea and want more of it, or you just watched a 21-day wait timer appear on the free tier and want it somewhere else. This list covers both. Every entry below is an AI-run text RPG or roleplay game you can play today, with what it costs and who it is actually for, as of 13 September 2026. Disclosure: we make ISEKAI ZERO, which is on the list. We put it where we think it belongs and say plainly where the others are better.

Why people leave Everweave

Quick recap so the recommendations make sense (full detail in our Everweave review): Everweave is an excellent AI DM wrapped in a message economy. About 60 free messages a month, then $5.99 for 300 or $17.99 for 1,000, no rollover, and glitched turns still cost a message. The App Store rating is 4.3, Google Play is 2.2, and September 2026 reviews are mostly about the counter, the wait timer, and dice that feel tilted against you. The game is solo, English only, and text only.

So the things people are shopping for are: no per-message quota, a DM or characters that remember, more than one way to play (pre-written adventures, visuals, multiplayer), and a free tier you can actually live on.

The list

1. ISEKAI ZERO (ours)

Best for: story-first players who want a free tier that refills every day and thousands of ready-made adventures.

ISEKAI ZERO is an anime roleplay game: you get isekai'd into a storyline written by a creator, play it out with AI characters who remember everything, roll dice when the scene calls for it, and watch a visual novel mode generate the scene as you go. Most of the catalogue is fantasy and isekai, which is the same itch Everweave scratches, but pre-written: wake up after a car crash in a world of guilds and monsters, get recruited back into your family's adventuring party, face a council of Demon Lords as the Hero.

  • Cost: free option with daily Mana and ad top-ups. Paid play is pay as you go, 100 Arcane = $1, roughly 1,000+ messages per dollar on the default model, and the full cost breakdown is public.
  • Platforms: iOS, Android, web. 17 languages.
  • Where Everweave is better: stricter 5e mechanics and one endless open world. ISEKAI ZERO storylines have structure and a creator's voice; if you want a blank sandbox with a character sheet, keep reading.

2. Friends & Fables

Best for: the closest like-for-like Everweave replacement, with campaigns and multiplayer.

Friends & Fables (fables.gg) is a D&D-inspired AI Game Master with player-made worlds, campaign structure, a lore system and group play. If your complaint about Everweave is "I want this, but with my friends and with a world I can actually edit", this is the one. It is subscription-based rather than pay per message, and it is browser-first rather than a polished mobile app. Free trial, then paid tiers.

3. AI Dungeon

Best for: the free sandbox. The original AI text adventure, still going.

AI Dungeon is the app that started the genre: type anything, the AI continues. There is a free tier with a slower model and ads, paid tiers unlock better models and longer memory. It has almost no rules layer, so there are no character sheets, ability checks or HP unless you roleplay them yourself. If Everweave's D&D mechanics were the point, you will miss them here. If you just want to write freely for free, it still works.

4. AI Game Master: Dungeon RPG

Best for: a lightweight mobile alternative with a similar DM pitch.

AI Game Master (Digital Dynasty Entertainment) sits next to Everweave on the Play Store "similar apps" row for a reason: AI narrator, fantasy setting, phone-first. It is smaller and simpler, with fewer mechanics and a smaller player base (roughly 10,000 downloads a month by third-party estimates). Free to start, in-app purchases.

5. DungeonsDeep

Best for: players who want a real rules engine and battle maps.

DungeonsDeep (dungeonsdeep.ai) is the tabletop-purist option: a dedicated rules engine, initiative, a battle map, and the mechanical resolution that Everweave narrates instead of computing. It is new and web-based, so expect rough edges. Its own review of Everweave is honest and worth reading even though it is a competitor.

6. LoreKeeper

Best for: worldbuilders who want structured lore, not a dynamic improv world.

LoreKeeper (lore-keeper.com) leans into authored worlds and lore management, with support for multiple AI providers. If what frustrated you about Everweave was the DM forgetting the town you built three sessions ago, structured lore is the fix, at the cost of Everweave's spontaneity.

7. SillyTavern (run it yourself)

Best for: tinkerers who never want to see a message counter again.

SillyTavern is free, open-source, and runs on your own PC or through free API tiers. You bring the model, it brings the roleplay interface, lorebooks and character cards. The setup is an afternoon and there is no DM automation out of the box, but the per-message cost can be zero. We wrote the whole thing up, hardware and all, in our SillyTavern setup guide.

How to choose

  • "I want Everweave, but I can play every day." ISEKAI ZERO. Daily Mana means the free tier refills tomorrow, not next month.
  • "I want Everweave with my friends." Friends & Fables.
  • "I want the rules to be real, not narrated." DungeonsDeep.
  • "I just want to type and see what happens, for free." AI Dungeon.
  • "I want to own the whole stack." SillyTavern, with our guide open in the next tab.

Is there an Everweave unlimited messages mod or code?

People search for this every day, so the honest answer: there is no unlimited-messages tier at any price, and "mod apk" builds cannot change the quota because messages are counted on Everweave's servers, not in the app. Anything promising unlimited messages is either a code that gives a small one-off pack or a fake. The way to play an AI RPG without a monthly counter is to pick a game that does not have one, which is what this page is for.
