OC Generator — Random Original Characters With a Real Personality

Pick a genre and a vibe, hit generate, and get a complete original character: name, age, role, personality with a real flaw, a quirk, a secret, a goal and a backstory hook. It's a spark tool: the templates encode the shapes of characters people actually enjoy writing, and you keep the ones that feel true.

How to use a random OC generator well

Generate three, keep one, and change exactly one field. Random characters are good at giving you a combination you wouldn't have chosen (a comic-relief villain, a tragic barista); they're bad at knowing what your story needs. The field you change is where your taste enters. If nothing in three rolls feels alive, switch the vibe, not the genre: personality is what makes an OC, the setting is just where they stand.

What makes an OC feel real

The generator's fields aren't random. They're the eight things a character needs before they can hold a scene: a name that fits the world, a role that gives them something to do, a personality with tension inside it, a flaw that costs them something, a quirk that makes them recognizable, a secret that gives them an inside, a goal that gives them a direction, and a hook that gives the writer a first scene. Our OC template expands each of these with the questions to ask, and the OC maker guide covers the tools for the face and the sheet.

Anime OC, fantasy OC, isekai OC: what changes

Genre mostly changes the role and the hook. An anime school OC lives on secrets and social position; a fantasy OC lives on oaths and what they've survived; an isekai OC lives on the gap between who they were and what the new world expects (the generator's isekai roles lean into that gap on purpose). For archetype-driven personalities, especially romance leads, pair the result with a dere type: a tsundere knight and a kuudere knight are two different characters with the same sheet.

From generated OC to a character who talks back

A sheet is a hypothesis about who someone is. The fastest way to find out if the hypothesis is any good is to let the character act. On ISEKAI ZERO you paste the sheet into a character, and the AI plays them from it: the flaw shows up under pressure, the quirk surfaces on its own, the secret leaks in chapter three. Drop them into a storyline (school, isekai, fantasy, romance) and you find out who they are when you weren't planning it. Original characters can be published, and creators earn a 25% share when others play them. Our AI character guide walks through the setup.

Tip: the secret field is the one worth protecting. Don't tell the other characters. Play until it comes out on its own; that scene is usually the best thing you'll write with the character.
