OC Maker: The Best Tools for Every Part of Your Character (Looks, Sheet, and Voice)

Stories you can play right now

"OC maker" means three different tools depending on which part of the character you're making: the face, the sheet, or the voice. Most guides only cover the first. Here's the honest all-three version.

Part 1: The face — visual OC makers

Tool What it's for Cost
picrew.me Anime-style avatar makers made by thousands of artists — the fandom standard Free
Charat Quick chibi/portrait makers, simple interface Free
VRoid Studio Full 3D anime character models (heavier, for VTubing/games) Free
Hero Forge 3D tabletop miniature style Free to design
AI image generators Fast concept art from a text description Varies

Honest note: picrew is wonderful and it's where most people should start — but every picrew face is built from one artist's parts. If your OC needs a look nothing on picrew matches, an AI image generator or a commission is the escape hatch.

Part 2: The sheet — who they actually are

A face without a personality is a portrait, not a character. The working core is eight fields: name, appearance, personality (with at least one real flaw), voice, one backstory event, a goal, a weakness, and relationships. We keep a copy-paste version in our OC template guide along with the 5-step method and the overload mistake to avoid.

Part 3: The voice — the part no maker covers

Here's the gap in every OC maker roundup: you can generate the face and write the sheet, and still have no idea how your character sounds — how they'd argue, deflect a compliment, or react to a stranger at 2 a.m. That only emerges when the character is used.

This is where an AI story game works as the third OC maker. In ISEKAI ZERO:

  • Register your OC's sheet and the AI plays them in character — or plays everyone else while you play your OC
  • Put them in an actual storyline (fantasy, school, romance, isekai) and watch how they handle scenes you didn't plan
  • The AI remembers events, so relationships and history accumulate — you learn who your OC is under pressure over time
  • Scenes generate art and music, so the character you built gets a world, not just a portrait
  • Free to play (free Mana daily, ads for extra) — and a storyline built around your OC earns you a 25% profit share when others play it

The full pipeline

  1. Sheet first (template here) — design decisions flow from personality, not the other way around
  2. Face second — picrew or AI art, using the sheet's 3 distinctive traits
  3. Voice last — run them in ISEKAI ZERO until you can predict their next line. That's when the OC is real
